No clue how people liked The Revenant years ago but seem to be disliking The Northman. There are some "weird" moments, but I feel like this is more straightforward and faster-paced than The Revenant (and cooler dream sequences too). Maybe it's the fact that it's more gnarly and feral?
I did think it would go lower than my initial expectations too after looking at tracking over the past week, but I guess I shouldn't have underestimated insane original animation IM lol.
I don't think the guy you replied to means it that way, but there are certain people on here who would rather have the money used on a great and interesting film like this to be added to the budget of some superhero film instead.
This movie goes soooo fucking hard. Best Egger and best Hollywood picture of the year. I found his last two films to be nihilistic but fun aesthetic exercises, but this is something geniunely engaging and at times beautiful. Clearly morally ambigious and even contradictory, but we need more movies like that.
I hoped this would do good after seeing the really good audience response when the trailer was shown in front of my Lost City screening, but I guess most people just don't care.
Feel like the Stagecraft has the same problems as green screen when it comes to what we've seen in this trailer vs low-light, low contrast stuff we've seen from D+ Star Wars shows and The Batman.
Ngl, would rather take her to watch Sonic than rewatch EEAAO (a film I don't feel like rewatching anytime soon), but someone on her twitter feed raved about EEAAO right after our date yesterday and now she really wants to go watch it now. RIP
I mean it's a college town where they released movies like American Underdog and Moonfall (and I feel like a movie like this would play better here than either of those, espescially the former). And practically everything gets released here. Kinda annoying too, because I planned to watch this for a movie date. I guess I'm just gonna have to settle for a rewatch of Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Don't know if this was answered already but what is Unbearable Weight's screen count? Not being shown in the cinemas close to me (while the Northman is being shown in both).
I just rewatched this and I feel like I underrated it. Mani Ratnam made one of the great anti-war films in the past 20 years by essentially making it a classic melodrama. Insane how this is simalteneously heartbreaking but at the same time made me want to spend more time with these wonderfully detailed characters (only Mani Ratnam can pull-off a detour into a lovely romantic subplot in between a film like this). Also contains one of the best child performances ever. So FYC again. It's on Netflix in the US.
Yeah, it has. Last time I did doing shit like looking at daily drops and what not was maybe GvK. I also stopped using r/boxoffice (which has done so much for my mental health) last year. A lot also has to do with me being in college (espescially moving to campus) and not even having time to watch movies these days.
This is like the 3rd meta comedy WB will have released within a decade that is based on a popular IP movie and has an evil CEO as the bad guy (with two of them being played by Will Ferrell).
