Seems like this will be the first Oscars I will miss in 7 years. Was thinking of missing this one for a while because it just sounds so boring and shitty, but I just realised I'll be watching RRR when the Oscars are airing (probably a much better use of my time too) so literally impossible. All the cringe bits will be on twitter anyways.

Gonna end up getting tix for X tomorrow and sneak into a RRR screening (thank god for unreserved seating). Annoyed that I can't even use my regal subscription on this movie.

Fucked up and booked my tickets for the wrong AMC and only realised after I got to the cinema. Ended up watching this at local regal instead. This was so mid and I hate that I wasted an extra hour (how long it to took me to go to the AMC cinema and back) to watch this. Tatum, Pitt, and Harrison all funny. Everything else not so much. Tatum and Bullock don't even have much chemistry. Barely better than Jungle Cruise.

AMC A-list might be the worst subscription service I have ever used. Those assholes just took an extra $50 from me when I canceled my subscription.

Feels like Chazelle is going for something "show-off"-ish again and honestly, sounds boring. First Man is easily his best film and that's because of the stunning amount of restraint he showed. Felt a lot like a late-career film and this just feels like a regression.

I'm not American (although I am an Indian immigrant who grew up in a mostly white community), and I don't really care about the stuff about her being an Indian American specifically, but I did not believe for a second that she's Tamil. Her family could be anywhere from India. Just the fact that the mom never uttered a word of Tamil (which the actress playing the mom can speak), even when telling the main character off, took me out. There's none of that specificity that I feel is needed for proper Indian representation. Asiz Ansari's Master of None captured the aspect of being a Tamil immigrant 100x better.

Saw a couple episodes of that and I hope it is nothing like that (and as someone from the same part of India as the main character, I found the way they deal with her Indian identity to be especially bad and whitewashed af).
