Don't think they threw out a whole TLM presentation because of one role. Surely, they would have had a backup option anyhow. Perhaps unlikely but possible they are saving some movie news for the 30th TLM celebration tomorrow. Today was definitely a little more underwhelming than yesterday's Disney+ panel but glad we got a date for BP2. I've thought for awhile that it would get a May release date but figured it'd be 2021 instead of 2022. Seems a little puzzling that it was the only new release announced. I thought maybe Feige would announce a date for Blade and Guardians 3 but perhaps they are still figuring out what should go where, particularly with Gunn still having SS2 to direct. Great that Gemma Chan is getting a better MCU role, still a little salty that it's not for Shang-Chi but Sersi is great too. I'm not crazy about Kit's role but I'll take a Robb/Jon reunion in the MCU.

No. There is more tomorrow with the Disney Studios panel.

Well I'm not a big Star Wars fan but I want to watch this new show just based on that trailer alone. Looks pretty damn good. That trailer music... *chef kiss* McGregor as Kenobi is my favorite part of any Star Wars content so I'm excited to see him again. Judging from those Marvel Studios reveals today, I'm going to say we are in for a few surprises tomorrow. Very interested in seeing who Kit is playing.

The reservation system was definitely a mess but I don't think that was really a factor since people do this every year. Most I've seen are convinced these are mostly folks who are interested in the exclusive merchandise, some of whom will resell at a higher price.

The secret project announcement is today...1:30 pst, I believe. I doubt it's anything related to Disney studios or Disney+ but we'll see.

From what I'm seeing, these are likely people who are there for the limited new merchandise. There will be an "official" line starting this afternoon for those who want to make sure they get a seat at the Friday panels.

This is ridiculous.

Yeah. Can't wait for the wannabe film nerds to accuse any critics of this movie of not being smart enough to understand it. And of course it's gonna be interesting to see what word or pejorative ends up being the most overused. Woke vs incel vs sjw?? Lots of fun and enlightening discourse ahead, I'm sure!

Watts knows how to make a fresh, entertaining movie and I will take that any day over many film nerd favorites. As for Reeves, I'd like to think I know a pretentious movie when I see it and I wouldn't describe his Apes movies as such. Maybe there should have been more levity but the serious tone never felt try hard to me.

Let go of the past? Why should they? We're talking about a comic book character, after all and one of the most iconic, at that. The Spider-Man comparison is definitely a valid one. Yes, Spidey has the advantage of being included in a successful shared universe but Holland's Spider-Man is also vastly different from the two who came before and that was important in establishing that this version was truly a fresh take on the character. Whether you like Reeves or not, I think it's safe to say he's not going to deliver Batfleck 2.0 and thank goodness for that because I felt nothing for that version of Batman except annoyance...indifference, at best. And given that Reeves supposedly wants to focus on the detective aspect, he's probably not going to be all that similar to Bale's Batman either. I look forward to seeing what he has to offer.

Considering Harry supposedly did screen tests and was actually in talks, it's safe to say this wasn't a matter of the role not being good enough. (Money was likely a bigger issue or the fact that Harry has an album coming out very soon.) That said, it's difficult to imagine a well-known actor wanting to take on the role, knowing he would be seen as second choice. I still say it's weird we have heard no other name for the role. (Several names leaked for the Aladdin leads before the official announcement.) The full casting announcement for this movie and the Marvel Studios announcements is what I'm most curious about.

I was a bit surprised when I first heard this, given how much they'll likely have to fit into that timeframe. But I think it makes sense to have it all one panel. It's going to be interesting to see what panels they choose to livestream. Perhaps Disney+ will be the big one since they really want to promote that. The Disney Studios panel seems less likely but that is the one I'm most interested in.
