Man... Cried more than I expected because of this. Difficult to put into words how much Pelé means for anyone who is brazilian and loves football, just like myself.
May rest in peace with the Lord.
I think 4.5x were along the lines with the most optimistic cautious (if that is even a thing) people expectations. I myself always thought this would get aprox. half of the legs of the first one, so 4.5x to 5x although with a better opening weekend.
Avatar was always supposed to be behind NWH in LATAM given that NWH is a top 3 all time in many of the markets. Honestly this is doing slightly better than expected over here IMO.
It was the Tuesday. It make 15M in the Monday and then 6M in the Tuesday. I mean, a big drop is always expected after New Year's, but it dropped 60% from Monday and 72% from the previous Tuesday.
Rogue One fell of a cliff in January 3rd (Tuesday). This is the most important day of the run IMO, but I have a hard time seing this have the same kind of drop and behave similarly to a SW movie throughout January and February. We will see soon enough, so I think is fair to say that we can't possibly know until then.
Star Wars is not a big thing anywhere in LATAM honestly. It has a decent following in some circles, but the GA appeal is nowhere near superheroes, dinos, cars&family, giant robots and all those things...
You are repeating this, but I don't see how the opinion of your wife means something in the big picture of things and has a correlation about the 3rd dropping almost everywhere. I mean, it very much can drop, but the reception is excellent and a few anecdotal evidences are completely irrelevant at this point of the run...
I am not saying it's locked, but I never stopped to believe in the 2b and it's getting more and more likely. We will have to wait a little more, but I am liking the chances right now at least.
Genuine question: was Top Gun demostrating the insane legs it ended up having over the first weekdays? In my memory at least, it was not until the second weekend drop that the crazyness begun. So I still think it is way too early to say how this will play out from now on...
Very good legs across the boards overseas. I still think it will get to the 2b mark, overseas is doing great as it was expected, but the domestic market needs to improve.
Honest opinion that my fellow americans on this forum will probably disagree with: Star Wars is not very good. It only has 1 really great movie that is The Empire Strikes Back and a few good movies (A New Hope, Revenge of The Siths and Rogue One ?). But the series as a whole is not good and have a decent number of really bad movies.
