  1. Great, well made and insane movie. The stunt work was incredible and Tom Hardy and Charlize were both stood their own amongst the chaos. I just watched it on Blu-ray and the video and, especially audio were easily reference quality. Might not top my list for 2015 but it'll be in my top 5. ****/*****, (A-, 8.2/10, 3.25/4)
  2. Dangit, I think I wandered into the Batman v Superman thread. Can anyone point me to the Estimates one?
  3. School still out here in Oregon.
  4. Relativity Pulls ‘Masterminds’ From Calendar After Vowing to Release in October (EXCLUSIVE) http://variety.com/2015/film/news/masterminds-release-on-hold-relativity-1201566806/
  5. I doubt that will happen. Best case scenario is Bourne 6 will pit Renner's Cross vs. Damon's Bourne.
  6. Really surprised but liked it as well and Mae Whitman was so damn charming (still perplexing that they recast her in Independence Day 2 unless she turned the role down). Anyway, highly recommended and hopefully has a mainstay along the likes of Mean Girls, Easy A, 10 Things I Hate About You and Can't Hardly Wait (of the more 'recent' teen rom-coms). ***¾/*****, (B+, 7.6/10, 3/4)
  7. The DUFF needs to be added to the archives. http://forums.boxofficetheory.com/topic/17879-the-duff-2015/
  8. Yeah that not only was weak but utterly laughable.
  9. Well casting is just underway with Viggo Mortensen apparently offered the role as an assassin hunting Bourne down.
  10. Glad she's back, she and Damon had nice chemistry, though was their background retconned in Ultimatum? I remember watching Bourne Identity and there didn't seem like there was a history between them.
  11. This has the potential to make more on its OW than JP3 did in its entire domestic run ($181M).
  12. I was the opposite of others, I found the first 30 minutes to be a bore while the rest fairly exciting including the whole Butterfly Effect aspect as David's actions spiral out of control. Oh, and agree with Baumer, Sofia Black D'elia is gorgeous... ***/*****, (C+, 6.1/10, 2.5/4) And this is coming from someone who hates the found footage style.
  13. A lot fun though it has been years since I last saw it. Hopefully they'll do a third one, with Diesel, to offset the craptacular sequel.
  14. Chappie needs to be added to the archives. http://forums.boxofficetheory.com/topic/17991-chappie-2015/
  15. Eh, wasn't crazy about this but I guess it works as a guilty pleasure. The action was well done and the visual effects were more or less good but everything else was poorly done from the characters. Still have no idea why Sigourney Weaver was in this, she had absolutely nothing to do and just scoots off. It's yet another movie from so-so effort from Blomkamp following District 9 which I thought was overrated, though I have yet to see Elysium. ***/*****, (C+, 6.1/10, 2.5/4)
  16. Dreadfully dull and unfocused movie with very little redeeming value beyond a couple well acted scenes and a somber/haunting score. Take out the credits and its only 100 minutes long but boy did it feel a lot longer than that. *½/***** (D-, 2.8/10, 1/4)
  17. Focus needs to be added to the archive http://forums.boxofficetheory.com/topic/17949-focus-2015/
  18. Not bad and kind of a throwback to the con movies of the 1970s. Margot Robbie I thought was fantastic and Will Smith still has the charm. I also liked the fact they didn't sugarcoat characters who, frankly, are lowlifes. The screenwriter could've easily tried to make it a basic and cliched redemption story. So all in all, it's probably worth a rental though not entirely sure what the replay value is. ***¾/*****, (B+, 7.7/10, 3/4)
  19. Strip away all the nonsensical BS dialogue, the nifty (and expensive) visual effects and the cardboard cutout characters and this damn movie is about harvesting humans. Just plain bad all around but more than enough to make fun of especially in a group setting. **/*****, (D, 3.8/10, 1.5/4)
  20. Given the two openings, and the fact it's kind of been lagging anyway, it's not all that surprising. Besides, I doubt Disney is crying. They are shoveling in the cash from overseas, which is where more and more studios are going to rely on (if not already). Mad Max for instance I think will make a bundle. Heck, I was surprised to see Fifty Shades of Grey actually made over $400M overseas.
  21. Yeah, I enjoyed the movie far more than I thought I would. Kevin Hart and Josh Gad are great and the jokes mostly landed. And agree with baumer, the Usual Suspects homage was a lot of fun. Not a great movie on the whole but highly recommended nonetheless. ***½/*****, (B, 7.2/10, 3/4)
