  1. Out of the supporting actresses I kinda do want J Law to win again.
  2. The Call was very underrated. Cool to see it fairly high on your list Baumer.
  3. I should really try to give the whole thing a go on Blu Ray. The thing is for me it's not just the 3d, it's the smaller screen too. Avatar was the true definition of a movie you need to see in the theaters to really appreciate.
  4. I wouldn't be so sure Gravity only get technical wins. I think it's a 50/50 race between McQueen and Cuaron for Director, even if 12YAS has Picture in the bag. Actually I think Cuaron has the slight upper hand for the moment.
  5. I can't see the Academy giving it to anything but 12YAS for political reasons, but if they would it would most certainly be Gravity.
  6. First Bieber and now him? Wow, the entertainment world got a whole lot less douchey.
  7. Oh I didn't personally think it was silly from trailers, but audiences I saw trailers with mostly seemed to think that.
  8. Honestly I got laughter from the audience most of the time the preview was shown at a movie I went to. Kind of like a "you've got to be kidding" type laughter. I personally thought it looked great from the previews, but it's definitely a niche movie. The general public isn't gonna go for it by and large.
  9. If LS goes up to like $15m when we get official estimates it could maybe have a shot at taking down Cloverfield's record. I have no idea what to expect from it's Sat hold though to be honest.
  10. I've never seen it all the way through on TV cause I can't watch it in 3d and that's what really elevated the movie for me. The fact that I felt like I had escaped to another world and was actually in it. Saw it 6 times in the theater in 3d cause of that (4 in IMAX). I don't get that effect on TV and therefore the movie loses a lot of it's wow factor. For me.
  11. It's interesting, looking at ET's original run on BOM, they have it stopping after 52 weekends, despite still having grossed over 1mil on that weekend. I wonder how much more it could have added to its gross if it had been kept in theaters?
  12. When Titanic came out people said something couldn't play for 42 weeks like an 80's blockbuster. When Avatar came out people said something couldn't play for 34 weeks like a 90's blockbuster. That's why they're phenoms. They defied all the conditions of their box office climate.
  13. What everyone should keep in mind before just tossing out the phrase "box office phenom."
  14. You mean biggest grossing animated non-sequel single run. Notice how convoluted of a title that is? There's like 3 specifications in there, lol. Not as if they're gonna plaster that title on the Blu-Ray box art. The ugly truth of it is it likely won't even be one of the top 100 biggest single runs in box office history, so it's hardly a phenom.
  15. Oh they definitely were, but Avatar did become kinda boring once it passed Titanic. I wasn't old enough to follow Titanic's run at the time so I can't say how interesting it was back then. I'd imagine very.
  16. And what a milestone that would be! Becoming the biggest animated movie of one year in cinematic history! Truly it is a box office phenom.
  17. I never thought about it before but Avatar was a whole lot less interesting to track when it passed Titanic. Fortunately for Frozen it never has to worry about passing any of the biggest box office successes of all time.
  18. Sorry, but nope. I already sold my soul and voice to Ursula the sea witch to ensure it wouldn't.
  19. I'm excited for The Grand Budapest Hotel because it reminds me of Marigold from the previews. Hope it won't just be a rip off though.
  20. It's funny, the movie reminded me of the South Park episode where they say shit a ton of times and by the end you don't even realize they're saying it anymore. Same with WOWS and "fuck" for me.
  21. I knew WOWS would have good WOM. CinemaScores need to be discontinued. They've become a total joke.
  22. Glad I'm not the only one who felt this way about 12YAS. Don't get me wrong it was good, but I felt like it was so focused on revealing the evils of American slavery when most of us already know how evil it was. Or at least we should. I wished it would have focused on a little more character development and maybe then it would have felt more powerful to me. Anyways, MOS>Gravity gave me a good chuckle.
