  1. I think we can all agree it will do very well in Japan, but how well definitely remains to be seen. To expect another Frozen or even Monsters, U is crazy. Considering Disney's hot streak, I would like Tangled to be the minimum. Now, bring on those reviews dammit.
  2. There hasn't been a big family event film in a long time, so I don't see any reason why it won't outgross Interstellar. At the very least BH6 is going to win Saturday.
  3. It looks tailor made for the Japanese market almost. But I've made that mistake before with Brave, which looked almost Miyazkian in its Japanese trailers.
  4. Those are some glowing reviews. All positive across the board. Disney's second comeback is continuing in full force.
  5. Tracking is already around $60 million so it can only go up once marketing kicks into high gear.
  6. I'm expecting reviews in line with Frozen and Wreck-it Ralph.... 88%-ish... maybe a bit lower.
  7. They're now using the Marvel angle in the promos. And Marvel right now = Pixar 2007-2010 era. I still think this is going to do gangbusters. It will be to Frozen what The Incredibles was To Finding Nemo. Not as big, but still pretty damn big.
  8. This franchise is off to a surprisingly great start. I enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. It's not a perfect film, but it was so much better than other Hunger Games wannabe's, like the absolutely dreadful Divergent, so I'm wishing this series well.
  9. Lucy proves that a Black Widow movie would do gangbusters. ScarJo is a draw now. So just make that one already.
  10. I guess you could say the estimates and the actuals... aren't exactly identical...
  11. This so much. The first film was never that well liked to begin with. The sequel's decline should have been a clear sign to the studio that enough was enough.
  12. Guardians is slaying. Hard. I want it to keep going like this... Frozen-style.
  13. Astonishing overseas performance for Maleficent.
  14. It's like Warner Bros and Disney are competing to create a crazier, more high profile cast... even though I feel the world is collectively shrugging every time a casting announcement is done.
  15. The first one was a runaway success. $137 million at the Box Office domestic, over $300 million worldwide and 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. If they can deliver another well received film I see no reason why it can't increase over the first one. Which I loved by the way.
  16. I'm calling $800 million worldwide for this one. Hot off the success of Frozen + Holiday legs + Japanese potential. Should easily take the #1 animation title both domestically and worldwide.
  17. I don't understand why they were there in the first place. It's not like the two wolf chases from Beauty and the Beast could ever be topped anyway. At least they were threatening.
  18. Tammy is performing solely on the goodwill of McCarthy and her previous hits, but she's better than this movie. I hope it's a misstep and she'll bounce back with a better film next.
  19. This is what I'd expect from a studio that lets Dreamworks Animation slip through their hands into the competition's lap. Especially in a time where studio are competing over franchises and property rights. Transformers was their last cash cow and they've milked it dry. What else do they have? Viacom is one step behind once again. But what else is new.
  20. Exactly. All Disney needs is for the hardcore comic book nerds to know it is originally a Marvel property. Because they're always there on opening weekend.
  21. Because the original was universally beloved and had fantastic legs. Dreamworks just keeps dropping the ball over and over. And trading Paramount for FOX where they now have to fight for good release dates with Blue Sky isn't helping. They're playing second fiddle to Pixar and Disney again. Hell, Illumination is in a better place right now.
  22. They're all going to complain that this is where the show jumps the shark. Even though RR Martin wrote half of the the scripts.
