  1. That guy is getting a lot of shit for his Duncan Jones inclusion over some of the greats. Leave him be. If Baumer can put Bay so far up, let that guy put what's his name up there too. They may both be wrong, but they are entitled to it.
  2. No clue who fucking Duncan Jones is. I won't even act like I do. But if that's his filmography, that guy has no business above the folks you mentioned. Just sayin...
  3. I don't care if I am in the majority and it's uncool to say this because it's become cliche. There's Goodfellas and then there's everything else. Ok, ok, I can't quite say that's true, but yes, I think Goodfellas is at the top, but he has made so many classics, it's insane.
  4. Seriously, I am thoroughly impressed that some of you can even come up with 100 directors. That's pretty crazy. I can come up with a top 30 I would feel comfortable with. 50 if I really set my mind to it, maybe. But 100? No go. Kudos to you film junkies.
  5. What the hell is up with South Korea's love for this flick? I guess it hit the right notes with that country's audience...?
  6. I may be wrong here, but unless Catching Fire dropped like a rock, Thursday should mark its 42nd straight day without dropping below 1 million in dailies (basically it has yet to go under during its entire run). Considering it should see an increase for the weekend, it looks to stay above 1m for another 3 days putting it at 45 assured days. Seems pretty solid to me.
  7. Another worst - I predicted TDKR to open to 180-190m and finish at 480 - 500m. In hindsight, that's not too too bad, but I was confident it would.
  8. Oh and I forgot, another best - I was called insane when I said I don't see how in the world The Hunger Games could end up under Alice in Wonderland's opening. I said logic says THG will open bigger and was pretty much called a lunatic. As opening day increased, it became very apparent THG was going to shatter a lot in its wake.
  9. Best - I predicted that the Hobbit would massively underperform. Everyone was throwing 400m around as if it were locked (based on LOTR's performance + inflation + 3D + goodwill/WOM) and I said it would struggle to make 325m and that Twilight would have a shot at beating it. I was laughed at a lot. Worst - Under 140m OW Avengers club with a sub 350m domestic total. Boy was I wrong.
  10. I'll list my last 6. Step Brothers - 7.5/10 Funnier than I remember. Ferrell and Reilly are pretty hilarious together. The ending falls apart a bit. The Godfather - 9.5/10 It's the Godfather. Enough said. Avatar - 7.5/10 Still beautiful to look at, but after not having seen it in a couple years, the movie feels so long now. Not as exciting as the theatre going experience was. American Hustle - 9/10 This was a knockout. Christian Bale was incredible - the absolute standout among a great cast. Thought J Lawrence was pretty great too, but B Cooper gave a solid performance himself which doesn't seem to be getting much recognition. The Conjuring - 8.5/10 This is horror at its best. Built up tension and a slow deliberate pace that packs a punch at the end. The Breakfast Club - 8/10 Classic 80's. Molly Ringwald is hot.
  11. Look at your top 3 and my top 3. Pretty good taste we have.
  12. 1. Interstellar 2. Gone Girl 3. Godzilla 4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 5. Rio 2 6. The Amazing Spiderman 2 7. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 8. 22 Jump Street 9. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 10. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
  13. I much prefer going alone to the movies, but I find it difficult because my significant other always wants to join. So I usually end up going with her if she insists on tagging along. On the other hand, for event films like TDKR, Avengers, Catching Fire, etc. I enjoy going with others.
  14. I was wrong about Anchormnan 2. I thought it was mostly internet hype among us cinephiles, but it seems to be translating into the masses a bit more than originally thought. I thought this was going to stall out around 105 - 125 million, but seems this can definitely go higher. Good for it. Loved the first one.
  15. I bet you they don't regret those 3 movies for a second. 1.3 billion dollars from just box office receipts from the franchise, not including home video sales, rentals, and tv profits... yeah, I'm sure they go to sleep fine with their decision to milk the franchise.
  16. Just read the whole thing... he has reached new levels of doucheness. Not only does he rip off the comic for his short film, but then literally uses a quote from that Yahoo Answers site as part of his apology. This guy is competing with Kanye West - arrogant scumbags. Can't tell if he is serious or just straight trollin the world.
  17. Because it's Michael B Jordan, I can see this being something that resonates emotionally. The guy has serious acting shops as seen in Fruitvale Station.
  18. The Conjuring was freaking awesome - saw it at an 8p showing. Probably about 40% full in a 200 seater it looked liked. The 10p showing had a line when I left. Didn't look sold out though. The movie is gonna get good WOM. Bank on it.
  19. Ouch. The loss still stings. Game 6 still giving me nightmares.
  20. Nah, just living life. Work, kids, boxing, separating from my longtime gf.. didn't have time for this place. Just came back recently. I never really left though - just stop posting for a good while. Always lurked though Who am I talking to by the way, no offense?
  21. Sad state of affairs when our weekend threads are like 6 pages long most of which are arguments that we'll have to breeze through anyway because it's WALLS OF TEXT and bolded bullshit. JK
