  1. Sausage parties ain't my thing but I'm glad the movie is doing well coz its success may help Western studios stop running away in fear of adult-oriented animated features.
  2. I'm not even gonna with these videos even though I've heard good things about Landis's Superman run. As for the tonal reboot of Supes, for MoS2 or whatever it is called, just take cues for the character and story from Grant Morrison's brilliant All-Star Superman and Joe Kelly's What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way? after Kal-El makes his comeback.
  3. Which seems kind of perfect for a movie featuring Harley Quinn. Not so perfect for a franchise starter and creating goodwill for a shared cinematic universe however.
  4. Nopes, Enchantress & bro was Ayer's idea because he has gone on record talking about loving the story from the Ostrander run where they transported people to other dimensions and so decided to make them the main villains despite their obscure status. It's possible he originally envisioned a less CGI-festy and more lower budget James Wan-esque horror take on the characters, but the plot was his idea.
  5. I saw a kid being brought to watch Birdman and then being taken out by the middle act of the movie. Methinks someone didn't get the memo and thought it was a regular ole superhero yarn.
  6. I think you are taking it way too seriously. The short doesn't seem any more vicious than just offering a different take on a beloved childhood franchise for fun, in a Robot Chicken-y way. Of course, the fact that people started pushing for the actual franchise to resemble that fan film was when the train passed Ridiculousville.
  7. Chelsea Clinton mentioned her childhood love for the book in her DNC speech and it trended on Google this week I believe.
  8. I think it was Brian Azzarello, he of the man-murdering, child slave trading Amazons. So icky tho
  9. Moana should have Original Song in the bag if nothing else, coz folks wanna EGOT Lin Manuel-Miranda. Zootopia getting Screenplay nom looks iffy.
  10. Was GB really the phenom that Jurassic Park was? I mean, I didn't exist when OGB came out so I can't say for sure but during my 90's childhood, nobody from my age group particularly cared for the franchise. Kids were fascinated with other older franchises like Star Wars, Indy and to a lesser extent, even BTTF and Trek. But GB? Not so much. The other day I was reading an open letter by Harold Ramis's daughter in defence of the reboot and this was her reasoning for why the 1989 sequel bombed: She already thought most folks (especially kids) had moved on in 1989. So why should it have been more potent in 2016? Here's the rest of her article btw
  11. I really thought that was what the quote was in reference to and that the poster is unofficial and just mocking it
  12. Yeah, Invasion of KL is too early to outright kill Dany even for shock purposes. I don't even want her to die, just not have the Iron Throne at the end because she is unfit to be a ruler and there isn't enough time left to effectively show her learn and excel at the game. Ditto for Jon.
  13. Good. 500M is still a prestigious club and Dory wasn't deserving enough. Beating Shrek 2 for the domestic animation crown is more than enough.
  14. Yeah, I think the Melissa McCarthy/Paul Feig fanbase is doing most of the heavylifting here. Something that a GB reboot/somewhat sequel by another team may not have afforded. There's nothing to concretely establish that a GB sequel had more anticipation than an ID sequel this late after the release of the originals (that's not even considering the hot mess of GB2).
  15. 23 Emmy noms including firsts for Kit and Maisie and repeats for Lena, Emilia and Peter
  16. She's fantastic in Preacher. Also the sole reason I considered subjecting myself to watching Warcraft.
  17. It was a different time. Even the right side, NAACP in this instance, had to apply some double standards to actually get shit done. It was smart to choose the easiest cases. That was the fastest method of making real headway, while still ensuring the same result and benefits for everyone in the long run.
  18. The real life couple had the perfect last name for their story and case.
  19. JL hasn't aged all that well. I haven't revisited Superman at all so can't say for sure whether it was inferior to JL. But the ones I have revisited, BTAS, TNBA and JLU, are stalwarts in tv/superhero animation. When they are at their finest, there is nothing that compares. Of course there are clunker episodes, but the overall consistency is still stunning. And BB was refreshing and joyful and all kinds of cool. Everyone in junior high was Schway this and Schway that, it was hilarious. It is less consistent than the aforementioned shows but still has many stellar episodes. Of course, almost all of the DCAU DTVs are amazing. Mask of Phantasm, Return of the Joker and Under the Red Hood being exquisite. All in all, a very impressive average for Dini/Timm/Romano, considering the span of time and amount of work they generated. Their repute isn't unearned at all.
  20. That's pretty much saying something like "People hype Spielberg up too much. I I watched The BFG recently, got bored pretty quickly. Definitely a movie for kids." JL is easily the weakest of the Timmverse. BTAS/TNBA is the crown jewel. JLU and Batman Beyond are close second and third.
