  1. What? It has already locked a "decent" OW. A strong Saturday bump will help it "salvage" a spectacular OW.
  2. True. Natalie was awesome with Bridesmaids dude/Darcy/Selvig/Brit Intern while Hemsworth was awesome with all the Asgardians. But put together, they were meh. I think the makers realized this and hence had very little Thor/Jane romance in this.
  3. This "underperformance" is nowhere on the same levels as Into Darkness. So I think Loki/Hiddlesworth has a lot more pull than BC. I still think the American reviews affected the opening a bit. GA was probably once bitten, twice shy after ignoring the rotten reviews for MoS only to see that that movie was indeed crap. Hopefully the strong, early WOM TDW is generating makes for healthy Saturday and Sunday boosts.
  4. Yup, though they have very few scenes together, despite Natalie having a much bigger role.
  5. Well, OS reviewers did enjoy TDW a lot more than American critics as well. Watched this a few hours back and have to say it was really, REALLY fun! Hoping for an insane Saturday bump so that 95-100M is still possible. It deserves it.

  8. Not if Turbo has anything to say about that!
  9. R-rated cross between Spider-Man and Hit-Girl who constantly breaks the fourth wall and lampoons everything from his superhero universe to real life pop culture and situations. Could be very appealing especially if played by someone as impassioned about the character as Ryan Reynolds. Of course, general audiences actually wanting to watch a RR Deadpool movie is a whole other issue.
  10. Oh I see. Longshot has never been a mutant actually. But isn't he a product of the Mojoverse? That's strongly tied to the X-Men mainly thanks to the X-Babies. This Marvel rights Venn diagram is as convoluted as the X-Men movie continuity.
  11. I saw it for the first time yesterday too and am glad I finally managed to catch it in theaters! Even though it is no Children of Men, the action and cinematography is still to die for!
  12. I dunno. If Deadpool and Dazzler are considered to be X-Men characters, I'd say so is Longshot.
  13. So far Frozen is knocking it out of the park with reviews.
  14. My Top 22 (post Frozen update): 1. Aladdin 2. Frozen 3. The Little Mermaid 4. Mulan 5. The Lion King 6. Beauty and the Beast 7. Wreck It-Ralph 8. The Emperor's New Groove 9. Tangled 10. Meet the Robinsons 22. The Princess and the Frog
  15. Not really. The fictional city BH6 is set in, San Fransokyo, is a mix of San Fran and Tokyo, so I guess it is only cyberpunk if you consider Tokyo to be cyberpunk.
  16. They are trying to evoke an energetic manga feel from it. I likey!
  17. 268M to 400M is a pretty big jump, so I'd say TA effect is pretty strong. Though I'm personally hoping for 450M.
  18. I guess different superheroes hold different appeals for different countries despite the actual quality of their films.
  19. Traitorous Walt, how could you do this to Mowgli? Jungle Book FTW!
  20. it's pretty simple actually- if the Avatar sequels have groundbreaking technical aspects like the first Avatar and Titanic, they will create magic for Cameron again. Otherwise if they just try to piggyback on Avatar success like Hobbit trilogy piggybacking on LotR, their BO will underwhelm spectacularly.
  21. Will try to catch it today. Watched Children of Men for the first time yesterday in preparation. Great film!
  22. I'd say it has more appeal than Conan because the characters are stronger and the world of Eternia is more fascinating, with it's science vs. fantasy elements. Also, <3 Thor's "By the power of Greyskull" moment in TA-
  23. Lol, Courtney Cox should play the Sorceress in the new film. Interestingly, did you know that Christina Pickles, the actress who played Sorceress in the Lundgren film, later played Courtney Cox's mother on Friends? Mrs. Geller, that was her!
  24. It could if they go the Thor route and make it science meets fantasy in outer space. Which, to be fair, that was what MotU was all about right from the beginning!
  25. Ironically, all of those franchises you have listed have had their animated avatars too, Spidey and Transformers having multiple animation shows before live action movies. It all lent to the brand recognition. Though I agree that home video sales is not to be underestimated when it comes to animation.
