  1. Does anyone else remember the fancy ass X-Men movie website with the character profiles? Tween me's mind was blown, especially as it was the first time I was seeing most of the characters' looks in the movie adaptation.
  2. It might inspire Ms. Marvel's future as a mutant in the MCU It's so WILD that Marvel's most only popular Inhuman is going to be a mutant on screen and be retconned into a mutant in the comics. Just 5-7 years back, Marvel Comics was doing its best to bury the mutants and prop up the Inhumans instead.
  3. With MI7, I think it's mostly just the looming Barbenheimer and terrible scheduling by Paramount. which also severely hurt D&D and Transformers. Honestly, seeing some of these terrible summer performances from much more established theatrical brands, D&D BO almost seems above average and could have broken out in a less crowded month. SOF is also taking away the right-wingers from Cruise who turned up for him last summer because there were fewer options for them.
  4. Barbenheimer has helped it a lot though (and also Barbie to a lesser extent). Don't see it performing like this if it were releasing without Barb.
  5. She couldn't be bothered with the X-Men unless some mutant genocide needs to be committed
  6. Also, demotivation thanks to less pay is an actual factor that leads to overall weaker performance. Writers anyway have to fight uphill battles across various levels of execs to maintain the creative authenticity of their scripts. If the pay is weak, can't really blame them for saying fuck it and just write exec appealing hatchetjobs to get the bills paid. It's not like they are 'selling out' as that would require them to get rockstar sized cheques.
  7. Wait, the blue burger wasn't real?? 😵 Dayum, that was a great gag/grassroots ad campaign
  8. 56% is a below average drop for a film that opened with such meh numbers and had no tentpole competition take away its PLF screens on its 2nd weekend unlike most other films this summer.
  9. Comedy has become democratised in the social media era. There's a new comic breakout popping up a minute on YouTube and Tiktok commanding millions of followers. In ye olden days it was only movie and TV stars who enjoyed that privilege. TV though is still doing well. Cmasterclay mentioned some good examples and I'd like to add Abbott Elementary to the list of smash hit comedy shows as well. SNL has been mostly terrible since forever but I'd argue Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman from the current batch are carving out niches for themselves and have major breakout potential.
  10. Scream 4 came out when the teen slasher genre was dead and given way to found footage/shaky cam/torture porn horror like the Saw films and Paranormal Activity.
  11. 'FF suck and are good for nothing but for giving us good villains' is a very genuine FF hater take
  12. Possible some smart ass tried to sneak it in and claim plausible deniability if caught like the guy who drew a penis tower on the original Little Mermaid VHS cover
  13. Yeah, it seems to have been beef with Marvel in general that started around Black Widow and ended while Wakanda Forever was in theatres. Ppl just made up BS reasons as to why each film that came out in that timeframe was banned. The funniest was NWH and the Statue of Liberty
  14. Nothing much, just Ben Mendelsohn, an MCU actor on a promotional run of an MCU show absolutely trashing MCU's next big screen superhero team
  15. Barbie a plastic toy didn't do all of that, society projected all of that onto Barbie. Gerwig has said that's literally going to be one of the themes explored in the film. I dunno why ppl are getting mad that other ppl are jazzed for the film.
  16. He wants his Swamp Thing to be 'Gothic horror' so I'd think he's aiming for a budget MUCH lower than 100M. It's probably the right call too. Rebuild cred with lower budget CBMs (like he did with Logan) before getting back to the tentpole fare.
  17. Well, TF numbers are what they are but considering Paramount have sucked at finding good release dates for their films this year, these ##s are somewhat encouraging for the future of the franchise, especially if the next installment comes out in a less crowded space. The Flash OTOH would have been a clunker whenever it came out.
  18. Megan Fox is under the impression that Jennifer was bi or a closeted lesbian sleeping with guys just to fit in. She has said so in multiple interviews. I' wouldn't be surprised if that was the intent of the writer as well. Makes the movie and character all the more tragic.
