The tv spots, that have been in full force, including the acer and Shatner commercial flashed "May 16" or "this Thursday" enough that people should know. Also, Trek is big with the internet crowd. Also with internet ads and banners and forums and bloggers and twitter and WOM from friends - people would have seen the change. It's possible some people wanted to wait till Friday anyway, like I would do if I was going, but I think the change was aware for the most part.
