Best movie this year to date I have seen is still Stoker. Masterful photography and mise-en-scene. Excellent acting. Oblivion is excellent too. The story was meh, it was corny as hell and stupidly far fetched. Films like Transformers, Avatar and 2012 get slated for being 'Style over substance' why should gravity be any different? No, it got 97% on RT because Cuaron's directing is literally a Tour De Force never made in Hollywood moviemaking (and filmmaking in general) before, it's just a fact. No audience had experimented that in theater before. I mean 15 minutes long shot in space without any cuts swirling in real time along with the actors orbiting around Earth in a photoreal environment as suspense and tension rise without any sound effects other than music.
