Captain Craig
So TW went up just slightly with actuals to $112m, it was under that mark with estimates but I don't recall by how many tens of thousands that was off hand. Just that it read $111m+ with estimates.

Captain Craig
Many US school districts have started, still less than 1/2 the country but many have. The last two weeks they've been starting in various places throughout the country, those on what we call "year around scheduling" start as early as first week of August. Nashville for example, kids reported back Aug 1, first full week was 5-9th.

Captain Craig
4 new wide releases I guess put the squeeze on. Wonder what type, if any, kind of theater drop it would've taken to retain a few hundred of those screens? Sub 55%, Sub 50% or contractual obligation to 4 new wide releases wouldn't have mattered, it was always going to lose 1,000 screens.
ToddThatcher
60% drop seems likely for Elysium next wknd. B Cinemascore... I think it drops to fifth next weekend after Butler, KA2, WTM, and Planes

wileECoyote
Damn most of the hold over numbers look ugly. And the new releases don't seem to be looking all that great either except maybe for WTM.

kitik
the massive loss of screens due to four 3000+ theatre releases. Next week we're only looking at 4 2000+ theater releases. But of course the 4 3000 theater releases from this week will pretty much all get to keep their theater counts into the second weekend. (Maybe a few small losses due to drive-ins, etc.) So it'll still be a bit of a double whammy for movies that have been out for more than 2 weeks. This is really good of Honda, and I admit I don't know how much a projector costs but 5 theaters seems like little more than a token gesture. A huge storm went through it the screen and concession stand entirely destroying it, but the insurance covered a new screen and a new stand. Since they lost their film projector in the storm, they just upgraded to digital then. Going there this summer was great.
