CaptainJackSparrow
Well, I just lost respect for Ashton Kutcher.
ecstasy
I wouldn't quite call $96m a "small movie". Ok for Kick-Ass 2, Jobs too. Ashton Kutcher says "Box office is stupid, I don't know why people care about it". You wouldn't be in movies if people didn't pay to go and see them. So shhh. I'm still trying to grasp that this guy is really playing steve jobs in a movie.
CaptainJackSparrow
I am going to go on a hunch and say The Butler did less than Kick Ass 2 for previews, maybe under 1 mil.
Ezen Baklattan
Ashton Kutcher says "Box office is stupid, I don't know why people care about it". There aren't enough facepalm gifs on the internet to describe my reaction to this.

ecstasy
He was actually pretty good. OK then so it worked. That's good to hear. I just couldn't picture it. So he has some acting chops and not just romcom stuff. I'll catch it on Netflix when it comes out.

ecstasy
As an actor I can see him not caring about box office. That's not his job. That's for the suits to worry about. The producers, and studio execs. When or if he becomes a producer he will care about it then, lol.

kitik
interesting numbers from rottentomatoes critics: Butler: 72%, 6.8 Kick Ass 2: 27%, 4.6 Jobs: 25%, 4.9 Paranoia: 2%, 3.8 audience scores: Kick Ass 2: 81% Butler: 72% Jobs: 53% Paranoia: 50% People aren't going to Kick Ass 2 expecting some profound piece of storytelling and deep insight into human nature. People only go to a movie like that if they want to see some ass-kicking.

Green Lantern started out at 82% and ended up with 48%, same with After Earth. Lackluster start for the Butler though (I still think it's going to top the box office regardless). tonytr87
Well, I just lost respect for Ashton Kutcher. Watch his speech at the Teen Choice awards and you'll see why he doesn't care about box office. There are more important things. It's actually an amazing speech.
