Real Friday numbers (starting pg 5) (BD1 5.5 Muppets 2.73, Hugo 2.005)

Hey guys. Just checking in to see what Twilight did. I have a confession: since I'm 10,000 miles away from home and I can't go to the theaters, I've gone on iTunes to see some movies. It takes three days to download them, but there good enough quality for me (I'm in Afghanistan, by the way). And... well... I've sort of became a twihard. I watched all three movies and I gotta say, I liked them. They weren't as bad as I originally thought they would be. Granted, the thing about Vampires not dying in the Sun got on my nerves, but other than that, they weren't that bad.So, in conclusion, I really don't care about any other movie other than Breaking Dawn. It only has 70M to go to 300M. It can do it. I gave my wife an e-mail to go and buy two tickets (she doesn't like the movies, but I told her that she doesn't have to see it, just buy the tickets. She got mad and told me that we needed to save money. I told her that it was just $20.) Anyway, long story short, she did it and so, even though I'm not in America, I contributed to the cause. And when I get home in a few months, I'll contribute again. I don't care if I'm the only on in the theater, I'm helping the cause.

5.5 mill BD1....+150%

Great for BD1. It is definitely having better legs than New Moon.It now has a realistic shot at 16M weekend and even Noctis can't downplay this number. Edited by druv10

Remarkably unusual for a lot of films, especially BD1.I'd be willing to bet family films get HUGE increases today. No way are they all doing that badly this weekend, especially most of them have positive word of mouth.

Awful for the Muppets!!! Good for Breaking Dawn Part 1. Hopefully Arthur Christmas can stay flat for the next three weeks

Hopefully, but Alvin 3D will steal its screens and Tintin will kill it being animation as well. What I don't get is, even if you add them all up, all the grosses for the family films will still be disappointing so people just didn't turn up. Lame.

True, but then, the Muppets have a fanbase which hasn't grown, Hugo needs more time to weave in the kids and Arthur Christmas is from a minor studio.
