John Marston
If Godzilla only makes 69 m China then 300m overseas will be barely passed likely. Passing PR might not happen
Godzilla
It's looking to hit $330-340M OS.
Rudolf
my bet stands Godzilla will make in Japan less than 1/3rd what it makes in China

A Marvel Fanboy
Surprise .... despite a much lower DOM gross, PR had similar OS gross to this Godzilla.
Bishop54
Surprise .... despite a much lower DOM gross, PR had similar OS gross to this Godzilla. Looks like around $300M overseas is around the max for a giant monster film, they look to have a limited audience.
Jake Gittes
It's not about the audience, it's about quality and competition

John Marston
just remembered that the 1998 movie made 242.7m overseas 16 years ago without 3D.
Ajbg
But in 1998 There was a lot less movies. One or two tentpoles in summer. Now There is one tentpoles almost every week in summer.
Jose Gabriel Alvarez
But in 1998 There was a lot less movies. One or two tentpoles in summer. Now There is one tentpoles almost every week in summer. And that is the reason why there were drops. WB happened to give bad release dates to movies like Edge Of Tomorrow and Godzilla which would have grossed a lot more than Jupiter Ascending, and Jupiter Ascending happened to get the best release date
Manu Delpech
Godzilla just got hit hard by the onslaught of blockbusters. It's kind of what happens, one blockbuster comes and replaces the previous one, big drops everywhere except for a few exceptions, move along.....
