Keep in mind, for whatever this is worth, there is a massive snowstorm and cold front from Detroit/Windsor to Newfoundland/Massachusetts.  So that's a massive amount of dollars that will be muted Saturday.  Sunday doesn't look much better in terms of weather.  So at least the loonies can use this as an excuse. 

 

Except for the tiny, li'l matter of the midnight and first day (non ice storm) grosses.

If the 23-24 holds up, that's a 25% drop.  You know what else dropped 25% on its first Saturday?  If you guessed Nosferatu, you may be right, but there is no data from back in the 20's.  BUT if you guessed Hobbit AUJ, you would be correct.

I'm just giving all of Hobbit fans a glimmer of hope but if that number is true then 70M is going to be hard for the weekend and 250M might be a struggle. Frozen is going to kick Floppit's ass.

I don't find the opening boring at all.  If it opens to below 70, that's actually really exciting.  Sometimes when films drop a large amount, it can be just as exciting as when they open well.

250 yeah it will be a challenge, but if it does 24, and drops same as AUJ on Sunday it will do 72.
