One is a movie that lots of people saw and the other is a movie that cost a lot of money. I prefer to use the former as a definition because it's the one that actually makes sense. I used a combination of the two in that it was, "Movies that were trying to be big blockbusters/popcorn flicks", so even though Captain Phillips made over 100m I didn't count it as a blockbuster.
