Wow.

Is it in a new location? Campbelltown moved when they opened the new one.

Yes its still within westfield complex but in new area (the roof), Campbelltown just moved from one end shopping centre to the other (BO went up tenfold with new complex)

I think it's a new location within the Westfield Miranda redevelopment.  I haven't been there for years apart from driving by it.  This might give me an excuse.

I wish the new Wollongong Central had a new Event Cinemas like originally planned.

Finally got to see ff7 last night. Loved it. Best of the series so far. Perfect balance between crazy batshit stunts, quiet moments and car racing. And that end scene is just a lovely send off for PW.

If you haven't seen this film. Go see it.

should be around 4.3m

Nice. I was figuring about 4 or just under. 4.3 keeps it rolling nicely though could see a size able dip next weekend.

Up to 37.5m and counting. 40m gone by next Friday or Saturday I'm thinking. Should still finish in the mid forties. 50m now seems a stretch to far.

Here is an interesting but sad fact about the Australian Box Office....

Probably around Saturday next week will be the first time since 20th February 2013 that we had a film with a gross > 40m in the top 20. (over 2 years) and there is a chance that we will get 2 40m+ grossers in the charts at the same time if TA AOU lives up to expectations (funnily enough that last happened about 2 weeks earlier than the 20th feb 2013  )

Yeah you heard, the last film to crest the 40m mark was The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. ( we did have 2 films since then come within spitting distance ~ in fact they are the 2 highest films below 40m ;) )

Interestingly, in 2012 we had 4 films that were released that year to cross the 40m mark (including the hobbit, you had TDKR, TA, & Skyfall)

It's been a long time between drinks down under, but it seems all but a certainty that FF7 will pass the 40m mark next weekend.

Similar situation to us in the UK. Nothing hit £50m since 2012 when the first Hobbit did it, and we had the same 4 films eclipse that Mark in 2012. Fast wont manage it for us, but The Avengers stands a good chance of finally pushing through that barrier again.

A Sony leak regarding what Australians thought about TASM.

"Perceptions that Amazing Spider-Man 1 was largely a re-tread have solidified views that Spider-Man no longer offers anything new," the email, sent to a group of Sony executives, says.

They also highlighted the "corny young feel" of some moments.

"Australians are acutely sensitive toward cheesy elements," they wrote. "They quickly age down the perceived audience down to pre-teen and younger.

"The scenes involving Spidey holding up the police car [and saying] 'Need a hand' or 'you're a terrible driver' are perceived for young kids. Avoid them when targeting males 13+."

These kind of seem like fairly universal concerns.
