What's crazy is that +60% is very solid even when compared to the other releases, despite EG's gross being 15/50% higher.

 

On Tuesday EG becomes:

* the fastest Hollywood movie of all time to pass the 20M barrier

 

* the #1 SH movie of all time (in gross)

* the first SH movie able to pass the 20M mark

 

1) Avengers: Endgame > 20.23

2) Spider Man 19,26

3) Spider Man 2 > 18,98

4) Avengers – Infinity War > 18,77

5) Spider Man 3 > 18,04

6) The Avengers > 17,97

7) Avengers – Age of Ultron > 16,55

Considering the movie isn't slowing doen, and that forecast for the next 10 days or so has worsened considerably (rains will return), here's the top 5 of all time among Hollywood releases, in both Cinetel (official numbers, which don't take smaller theaters into consideration) and Siae numbers (true numbers, released much much slower and often hard-to-impossible to find).

 

TOP 5 (Cinetel)

1. Avatar > 65.67

2. Titanic > 50.22

3. Alice in Wonderland > 30.39

4. Ice Age 3 > 29.69

5. Bohemian Rhapsody > 28.92

 

TOP 5 (Siae)

1. Titanic > 71.10

2. Avatar > 66.80

3. The Lion King > 32.90

4. Ice Age 3 > 31.15

5. Alice in Wonderland > 31.00

 

I wouldn't rule out Alice's total gross. The main goal, though, is to beat BR for the top spot of the season.

About SIAE numbers, a movie like Endgame make pretty much all of its money on the big screens, so the adjustment would be minimal. It would need more than 32 millions (it's EG, so never say never) to overtake The Lion King, which after 25 years is still the highest grossing non-Cameron Hollywood movie of all time unadjusted.

 

Everything above 2 millions today would put a 30+ finish in play. 2.5+ would likely make Bohemian Rhapsody's 28.92M a formality.

Only a tiny increase for EG, meaning it's about to run out of gas. A 20+ opening week is apparently just too much to ask for an increase from a Tuesday that jumped 60% from an already inflated Monday.

Its Labor Day gross is still 15% higher than IW's, which even dropped from the (granted, more inflated) 30th.

IW made 6.7M more after the 1st of May. If EG makes 10% more than that, it will finish above 29 millions (and so above BR).

So we’re looking at around 42% increase above IW, comfortably above the benchmark needed to surpass Avatar.

I think IW will still make over 4m in the next 4 days. So it shoould easily beat IW 6.7m. I would go to 8m - 9m but that might be pushing it.

The weather is so far supporting it much more than it did to IW (which was actually hurt by the summer-in-spring). We have no idea how many repeat viewings it could bank on, and it needs them to get above the 30M mark. Usually the Italian moviegoer is a once-and-I'm-done figure, and being able to break that rule is what brought BR so high. 30M is now 60/40, BR like 90/10.

BR won't be beaten in admissions, but it should be beaten in total gross.

Dumbo is now the #2 movie of the year, and the #3 of the whole season in admissions.

 

It's crazy to have 2 movies getting so close to 30M and the third not even able to pass the 13M mark. Maybe Aladdin can fill the hole a bit.

Thank god there's Avengers - look at the rest! Capharnaum sells 800 tickets in the whole country and that's enough to enter the top 10! The kids movies totally collapsed.

EG's  506K is 6% higher than IW's post-LD gross (on Wednesday) and more than 20% higher than IW's 2nd Thursday. So overall a good hold.

Well, it's certainly better than being revised downwards :P

 

Still looking at 29.5 +/- 1.0 million euros (32/35M dollars). If it makes more than 4 millions this weekend, then Alice in Wonderland will be in serious trouble. Weather will decide.
