Fair point.

But, in his favor...at least he bothered to cast a Latina. But Cameron knows his awesome female actresses.

I read an amazing interview from Michelle Rodriguez basically thanking Cameron for casting her in Avatar because at the time, by her own admission, she was a bit lost in the Hollywood lifestyle getting wild & crazy and she started to have a reputation to the point where the phone didn't ring that much.

But Cameron always saw her in the part he trusted her & Avatar was a career resurgence for her.

So Yay Captain Jim !

uh?

an avatar sequel 12 years after avatar (which is the legitimate amount of time it looks like it will take for this to come out) will do a lot worse than a different new original movie 12 years after avatar, like how avatar was 12 years after titanic

Yes, what are they thinking?

A sequel to the biggest movie of all time, driven by a desire by the creator of that film who wants to make it?

We all know original IPs are the safe bet compared to that, even if that's not what he wants to do.

You are so wise!

Words of wisdom. But here's the secret: the reason Cameron waits 12 years to released Avatar 2 is that he wants another Oscar so bad that he will make a movie after A2 that is locked to win the Oscar, and that movie is titled "12 Years a Sequel".

Just like a sequel to JPIII harkening back to the original 14 years after the last entry would do much worse instead of a new IP featuring dinos, you'd make a terrific exec/producer...

JP3 was in ideal new-generation-taken-to-theathres-by-nostalgic-dads spot, Avatar 2  will not be in that spot for another decade
