well to be fair they are stuck in that cabin together for ~3 months and Jake already has his tail and it's blue

Trudey would either shackle up with Grace or Tsu-Tey than dorky Norm. She might have been really thirsty.

The top 10 highest grossing films when Avatar was released.

It made over 2.5x more than the highest non-Jim.

Tell me this can't make $4b, Jim magic is real.

And people talk about "forgetting" movies.

Am reading through the BOM reports from when Avatar released for the first time. Here's the one where Avatar overtook Titanic worldwide: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=2657&p=.htm

Some highlights to show the sheer powah:

Quote

Avatar is the top-grossing movie (in U.S. dollars) of all time in 24 markets: China, Russia, Australia, Spain, Hong Kong, Colombia, Czech Republic, Chile, Portugal, Singapore, Ukraine, Hungary, United Arab Emirates, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Dominican Republic, Latvia, Serbia, East and West Africa, Qatar, Jordan, Jamaica and Bahrain. Avatar's also on the verge of claiming the all time records in South Korea, Denmark, Austria and New Zealand.

and also

Quote

Avatar's 3D presentations have accounted for 72 percent or $1.35 billion of its total gross. Breaking that down, 3D's domestic share is 80 percent, and its foreign share is 69 percent. That's far and away the biggest 3D gross ever, and Avatar's effectively most people's first sampling of the new-fangled 3D technology.

So at this point, having grossed just $1.8b, it's grossed just so tremendously much in just 3D format.

Lang's a pure badass. Jimmy knows it. :)

Quaritch is a one-dimensional character, but a badass villain. I'd rather have a villain like that instead of a little bitch like Kylo Ren who shows his inner-struggle side in every 5 minutes of his screentime but at the end of the day is a little bitch.

Seriously, Quaritch is more Darth Vader than Kylo Ren lol

Sherlock Holmes 3 going up against Avatar 2 again, kind of annoying because that's screens taken. They should be showing A2 is 100% of them.

Sherlock Holmes 3 won't be a threat at all. The second film only made $187 million, and I predict the third will only drop. It seems like a sequel nobody asked for.

The bigger competitor will be Sing 2, which also opens Christmas Day 2020 and which will be targeting families. The previous film was quite well received and grossed $270 million. I think the sequel will be as successful.

Avatar 2 should still easily be #1 that weekend though.

Oh there's no doubt in my mind that Avatar 2 will be #1 that weekend.

I think Sherlock 3 will do better than 2 though.

15,000th post in the thread by the way

"No cultural impact." - hell we've even had a cultural impact on this forum, which lets be honest is basically nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Watching them scrap over #3 position in the fanboy thread is hilarious. To ignore reality to that extent, must be some seriously repressed people out there.

Comcast rumoured to have made a bid for 20th century fox...

Not sure whose worse... comcast or disney

Rather it go to Disney. They already have a vested interest in the success of Avatar.

Getting the Fantastic Four/X-Men is also a huge boon to the MCU.
