Just watched the new trailer for "Hercules". Apparently it is also getting an IMAX 3D release.

 

IMAX screens have become prized real-estate, but allocation seems kind of arbitrary. The IMAX allocation this summer has been:

 

TASM2 - 2 weeks

Godzilla - 2 weeks (DOFP did not get IMAX)

Maleficent - 1 week

Edge of Tomorrow - 3 weeks (HTTYD2 will not get IMAX in the US, only international)

Transformer 4 - 3 weeks

Jupiter Ascending - 1 week

Hercules - 1 week

GOTG - 1 week

TMNT - Currently scheduled for 6 weeks, but obviously a different movie will be converted to IMAX for release

 

WB and Paramount seem to have the most favorable arrangements with IMAX as IMAX prioritizes movies from those studios over other movies.

I remember reading that. WB was an early supporter of IMAX, which is why they get the best screens and favorable arrangements for their movies.
