Too dark? The first Harry Potter movie is a lot darker than HTTYD2 and that became an enormous hit with kids. This "too dark" complaint is annoying. Kids can handle a lot of things.

Just look at classic Disney, for example. There's some pretty freaky stuff in there yet we all loved those movies when we were kids.

FYI, BobbyJohn, this rant has been brewing for awhile so don't take it all personally. It's directed at a lot of people here actually...

It sure is cause I have no idea how you got from our silly fun bickering over Maleficent numbers to this.

Actually, I'm gonna apologize for that rant being directed at you. It's something I needed to vent about, and I honestly have no idea why I blew up at you. I'm legitimately sorry (even though the rant stands :P)

Don Bluth once said that you could put kids through anything as long as you give them a happy ending.

I take he's never been in a theater with hysterical children crying/sobbing over Musafa being murdered or Ursula collecting shriveled souls until they had to be carried out.  The fates of Old Yeller and Bambi's Mom no doubt had the same affect on some.... Of course that didn't stop them all from being wildly popular and successful.

Yeah, I found Dragon 2 darker than the usual kids movie, but not something kids won't be able to handle. They will love it.

It's not just that it's darker, it's also kind of slow for a kids movie. As an adult I can handle that, but I don't know how some kids will do.
