I know.  I am just challenging the idea that parents or families don't show their young children movies that have moments of terror in them.

I have the feeling the top 3 movies this year will be from the winter season.

Top 4 at this point... Big Hero 6, Interstellar, Mockingjay Part 1 and Hobbit 3 with Transformers 4 at 275-285.

Begin Again will be the indie breakout of the Summer. It will outgross Chef. Keira Knightley's comeback is imminent. Between that and The Imitation Game 2014 will be hers!

TLAM2 is exactly how I feared it would be. None of the insight humour and heart of the first..until the last 20 minutes. Not good.

Friday - $6.5 million

Saturday - $9 million

Sunday - $7 million

 

$22.5 million in its 2nd weekend... plus, both of those will be around $200 million. It doesn't get the huge Saturday jump since summer has started for most everyone.

TBH I didn't expect Jersey Boys to open well, I'm guessing the low key marketing worked. bodes well for Get On Up. There's Annie and Into the Woods at Christmas so it'll be interesting if they do well.Musicals have enjoyed a bit of a comeback, the big blockbuster musical like Wicked and The Book of Mormon are yet to become films but I reckon Universal and Paramount would be mad not to green light it if the creative teams want to pursue a film plus classic musicals like Miss Saigon.
