There was a rumor from 2018 that Michael B. Jordan would be playing Superman. That rumor will probably get reinvigorated now that Ta Nehisi Coates is writing a Superman movie. I don’t know if WB would be bold enough to make Clark Kent black though, so maybe he’d play Calvin Ellis?

Cavill could still be doing the cameo thing they talked about before and this could be another earths Superman.

I think it was a mistake how they announced this though, not getting very much traction on Twitter. Like Cavill is trending and not Superman lol

I actually expect that to happen tbh. They just had an article this week about how there is a lexcorp building in the Batman (apparently).

The film needs to show prime Superman and be a film for adults. Not Superboy, not an origin tale, not "see this famous person as Superman". The actor needs to look mid-to-late 30s. If for some stupid reason it isn't Cavill, Josh Duhamel or Josh Hartnett could both work though JH hates the spotlight.  Abrams producing is one thing but who actually directs this is insanely important. Chris McQuarie starring Cavill would be an excellent choice. Or maybe...

Usually whenever there's a reboot that comes along it's always people who are on the rise or relatively new in the industry in the mix. MBJ would be among them if this was still 2013-2014. Now it's time for another fresh face to have his breakthrough.

As much as I would’ve liked to have seen Henry Cavill come back for one more film, it looks like that ship has sailed. WB doesn’t seem interested in capitalizing on his recent surge in popularity, which is their choice. I just wish they would scrap everything connected to that universe at this point.

Real take: unless DC is truly full of shit (very possible), Cavill's Superman will be in a film with Black Adam at some point in time as The Rock all but said at the August fandome. Abrams joining with DC coincided with Cavill's agent insinuating he was returning as Superman and then it leaking in the press that he was coming back.

 

I would be shocked and totally over WB (sans THE BATMAN of course) if someone other than Cavill is Superman. Critically and commercially stupid.

They’re still making films set in the continuity that Snyder started, including Wonder Woman 3 and Aquaman 2, so for whatever reason, the “DCEU” still seems to be a thing.
