Fast & Furious 7 | 1165.6m overseas | 1518.6m Worldwide | Crosses $1.5 Billion Worldwide / 3m from passing The Avengers WW total!

Recommended Posts

It made $2.8M worlwide this weekend and using the trajectory of blockbuster films in North America as a model, the most optimistic prediction for it would $12-13M. Probably less.

It could lose a lot of screens next weekend in NA cuz 3 films are opening in more than 3000 theaters. Otherwise, it doesn't seem like it will collapse but the weekend after that will be the biggest challenge.

It only needs to make $12.3M to move ahead of TA1 WW. If that number drops to under $10M after this weekend, trust Universal to miracle push it the rest of the way.

its going to require a fudge for F7 to beat Avengers.

Next week Universal unleashes their secret weapon to get Furious 7 to #3 all time - Jurassic World. Move 5M from JW showings and pair it with JW for drive ins and they will get it really close. Dollar theater expansions will to the rest.

It dropped more than 50% in both North America and overseas so the suspense over whether it can claim a spot in the top 3 worldwide pantheon remains. A further drop of more than 50% next week (cuz of JW) could severely affect its chances.

Japan dropped off big. Was afraid of a big decline. If it ran out normally it would get to 1.513 now. Itll need a $6m boost. They've boosteds movies 5-10m to get it over a century mark domestically. Shouldn't be a problem. They have 2 months before the DVD comes out. Plenty of time to bump the numbers with a marketing ploy. If it had opened in May they could've expanded on labor day weekend. Hard to expand in the middle of summer. They'll figure something out

I just don't see how this doesn't happen. This is probably why I'm not a studio head, but I would pay people to buy tickets for F7, just to get it to top 3 of all time!

they sort of do that at times. They'll spend a few million in marketing to get several million in sales. They break even on the additional sales but get the bragging rights and make more down the road in secondary markets with the free publicity

Yeesss. Actuals have it at $1.159B accoding to Deadline instead of $1.160B.

Universal is going to take money from JW and give it to Furious 7. Almost no way they will allow it to stop below the mark now that it is within 10M of it, especially since a lot of major publications have also commented on the possibility.

They don't need to, but studio execs are petty people.
