AniNate
KFP2 is better than the original, you should watch it Ugh, no it's not.
TServo2049
I'm sure I'll see it and find out for myself. I just never got around to it (I didn't even see HTTYD1 until right before HTTYD2 came out, I never really followed DreamWorks)

darkelf
Kung Fu Panda Helmer to Direct Animated Noah's Ark Feature The story follows an outcast aardvark by the name of Gilbert, who becomes the reluctant leader of a ragtag group of misfit animals that need to be led to the mighty ark before the impending flood. Along their journey, they band together to conquer unforeseen obstacles, and ultimately, Gilbert discovers within himself the inner strength and ingenuity to prove that in a world of "twos," he was truly destined to be "the one." In other words: every other Dreamworks movie ever
AniNate
Good lord, that synopsis sounds like a joke. *Sigh* Save us, Pixar.
BK007
It's not Dreamworks guys. It's by a company called Unified Pictures.

Johnny Wiseau
haha underperformed..540 mil WW so far on a 145 mil budget so far is underperforming? it'll hit 600 mil WW btw..in which universe this is underperforming? the 1st one sucked btw here I said it..not even bothering with the 2nd one.. anyway..just because fanboys predicted 1 billion for it or whatever it doesn't mean it underperformed..it did really great for DW imo
The Futurist
The Dragon 2 dom number remains puzzling.
tommycruise
Penguins seems like a guarantted slam dunk(450m WW) but i doubt it will break out
Jonwo
Dragon 2 has done well but it didn't become the breakout hit DWA needed after three films that underperformed. Penguins of Madagascar should do well for them but the fact they switched it with Home suggests that they weren't confident with it and to avoid another writeoff in 2014
The Futurist
Dragons 2 is a success WW but it was destined to break out way bigger and becomes DWA new MAdgascar but that didn't happen ...
TServo2049
It wasn't "destined" to do anything. It was hoped to, but didn't. If their last few movies hadn't underperformed so badly, it wouldn't have been as big an issue. It almost HAD to be a smash hit to make up for the last few duds.At least it's doing well enough OS, particularly in China, that we'll still get the third movie. Jonwo
I think it was overhyped not only by fans but also people at DWA. There should be a third film although I imagine it'll be 2017 rather than 2016
TServo2049
The Animation Guild blog says it's in "early development", and Dean DeBlois himself estimated production would take 3 years, so I'd wager 2017 is indeed more likely than 2016. It's definitely not keeping the same date as Finding Dory. Edited August 21, 2014 by TServo2049

DAJK
hight expectations ALWAYS lead to disappointments..but it doesn't mean the movie actually disappointed objectivelyWell, yea, when you compare the budget to the BO numbers, yes HTTYD2 was a success. However, DWA wanted a bigger success to make up for money lost on Peabody and Turbo.
Feracious
hight expectations ALWAYS lead to disappointments..but it doesn't mean the movie actually disappointed objectively If a film didn't perform to the studio's expectation then it's a disappointment no matter how much it made. Didn't Katzenberg want it to make a billion dollars? Unrealistic but that was their goal and Dragons failed to hit it.
