Ant-Man is the highest-grossing film at the international box office this weekend thanks to China where Marvel’s diminutive superhero finally suited up to the tune of $42.7 million according to Chinese estimates — Disney is reporting $43.2M for the weekend. In any case, Ant-Man’s 3-day opening is second only to Avengers: Age of Ultron ($68M)for Marvel releases in the Middle Kingdom and bests last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy by 41% in terms of local currency. China also helped secure the highest-opening for an IMAX film in October with $5.1 million from 236 screens. The film has earned $275.9 million overseas and $454.8 million globally after 3.5 months of release.

Ant-Man is nearing $500 million worldwide as it continues its successful run in China this weekend with $22.2 million, down just 47% from last weekend. The Disney/Marvel superhero heist flick has earned $82.2 million there through just 10 days of release and is the second biggest original Marvel release of all-time in China behind Guardians of the GalaxyAnt-Man has earned $314.8 million from the international box office and $493.81 million globally.

Ant-Man crossed the $500 million mark in global box office as it continues to enjoy a strong run in China, where it has already earned $101.3 million in its first 17 days of release. Ant-Man finished the weekend outside of North America with $11 million. The film has grossed a total of $334.5 million outside of North America and $513.7 million globally.
