kayumanggi
2013 is the one to beat I know. But 2010 is currently the only year ahead.
CJohn
2013's crazy Summer is the one to beat. The most insane scheduling mind-fuck I have ever seen.
Jandrew
We're going to have 3 $50M openers just 7 weeks into the year and should have 6 before the summer movie season even starts. Incredible. I hope this year can keep up the pace to shut the "BO is dead" apologists up. Do you want your big movies to start bypassing the theater and going straight to Netflix on your ipad? Yeah me neither.

Bishop54
Did the Wachowskis rape your children or something? Nah, I wouldn't allow them to see this rubbish, I'd take them to see Sponge Bob instead.

Wait, does this mean you would allow Spongebob to rape your children? I am confused here. Edited February 9, 2015 by CJohn

CJohn
I think Insurgent should be able to stay flat. I honestly believe that Lionsgate has to be happy if the movie cracks the 100M mark because besides the main trailer marketing has been atrocious and I don't think the OW will reach 40M, let alone 50M. Jandrew
Either way, 5-6, still a pre-summer record I assume. Summer and Winter should be no different. Fall will be the season to watch.

There will be 6 weekends with a number one movie over 50M, maybe 7 if Fast 7 opens big enough to be above 50M on his 2nd weekend. Relax. It will open above 50m easily I don't think so, no. The hype for Divergent was much bigger at this point. Edited February 9, 2015 by CJohn
John Marston
There will be 6 weekends with a number one movie over 50M, tho. I don't think so, no. The hype for Divergent was much bigger at this point. I think a lot of people thought Divergent was going to flop actually at this point last year. It is only when ticket sales started and they ended up being pretty decent that people started to change their minds.
CJohn
2010 had 6 weekends with a number 1 movie over 50M (two of them by Avatar, and another two by Alice in Wonderland) before Summer. Edited February 9, 2015 by CJohn

I feel like Lionsgate is in for another disappointment, after THG3 opened with just 120M and Mortdecai tanked with 4M OW.
