Weekend Actual #'s | Furious 7 outperforms estimates -- $147.2m actuals!

Recommended Posts

It's on pace to gross more than TDKR WW.

:(

Time for Nolan to embrace other ethnicities and have a few kick-ass women in a movie!

245.1M OS + 147.2M Domestic = 392.3M WW OW.

Looks like WW actuals may push it over Avengers' 392.5M WW OW.

That is astonishing on every level.

No, not astonishing at all, people tend to forget that Avengers was released in a lot of markets 10 days before the US OW so the numbers of Avengers WW OW in fact include numbers from the second week end for a lot of markets.

Avengers 2 will follow the same release pattern so it won t be able to break any WW OW.

A week ahead of its U.S. debutMarvel's The Avengers opened in 39 foreign territories and scored a truly heroic $185.1 million. The movie took first place in all of its markets, and set new opening weekend records in a dozen of them as well.

Can someone explain to me why that 185.1M was added to 207M(OW Dom) and created a WW OW of 392?

Sure, I know it was released early overseas. But that still doesn't change what a crazy thing it is that a predominantly 2D movie from a franchise that wasn't seen as an absolute top-tier mega-franchise still essentially matched one of the hugest WW weekends ever.

You are right, that makes no sense, they should have taken the numbers from the second opening week end for these 39 foreign territories as I assumed they did.

Weird.

Or clever fudging.

Because they count when a movie first opens in any overseas market with when it opens in the domestic market, even if the domestic opening is later.

That is how WW OW's are formed take the OS OW+DOM OW. Its not DOM OW+whenever the OS wknd falls on the same wknd as DOM.

So it's a BOM thing? Because clearly that "WW OW" is false.

Always fun when a movie breaks out and surprises. Just under $400M WW and that's with the bogus exchange rate I keep hearing about from OS, no? If the exchange rate was what it was this time around this year does Furious breaking the WW OW record?

Edit: Didn't realize Potter 7.2 did $483M OW WW. Now knowing, I should've instead asked... With a better exchange rate, does Furious 7 gross $425M+ OW WW?

Right, but that would also mean, anytime it opens OS(in this case for F7, China, Japan, etc), those grosses should be added to the WW OW as well.
