AVENGERS Official Wknd Estimates: 191M - Disney

Recommended Posts

The Sunday projections for a lot of films are super harsh 50% drop for F7 and over 60% for Cinderella.

Are they guessing that there's going to be a resurgence in AoU interest today? Although that should affect Cindy less, right?

When all is said in done Age of Ultron is a better movie than The Avengers (by a WIDE margin) so I'll take that moral victory and disregard the lower numbers which were some degree expected.

hey ethan the movie faced alot of things this yr. the sequel was bigger but not as well structured with that heart felt story like the first. give this one a b+ with some a- moments in it. shocked yu like the sequel better than the first. Edited by Superman001

Movies for which we now need to temper our expectations following AOU's OW.

- Rogue Nation domestic gross: Ghost Protocol got a great holiday run and never before seen IMAX stunts and rode great word of mouth, maybe Rogue Nation retains 80% of that

- SPECTRE WW gross: Skyfall was a legit freak performance

- Anything related to MockingJay 2: Do we really want a repeat of MJ1 (although the meltdowns were fun)

- Star Wars 7 OW: It is December

- BvS OW: Avengers 2 could not match Avengers, no way BvS does

- Civil War: Arriving a year after Avengers 2 without the Avengers branding

Indeed. I'm thinking about 185m to 195m opening weekend for BvS at the moment.

Bold prediction: Nothing on the current schedule breaks the opening record.

Actually, because of inflation, IW2 might (but not by much), but if that doesn't, then something in the 2020's that we don't know about will surprise.

yur forgetting how big sm1 was because of the long 30 yr wait. batman and superman on screen is 80 yrs of movie fans to tap. its got a gd chance to shatter records. with ssws because of nostalgia vs new sws fans. dont think dec rules cant be broken my friend. its got a shot at the ow record as well. though slim because its dec

Why I tend to avoid the fan-driven threads until close to release when there's more sane people posting.

What the Inside Out thread turned into utterly shocked me; it's arguably more insane than most Marvel threads

I know. I've been waiting for Batman v Superman on the big screen my whole life, but I feel some people will wait for the word of mouth and the reviews.... because quite a few people hated the darker tone with Superman from Man of Steel.

So I've been going through this thread, and a few people are questioning whether or not the world of sports had an impact on the Box Office. They claim that if sports did have an impact on Saturday, then the Sunday drop of TA2 would be way better.

For starters, I'm pretty sure TA2 actually does have a good Sunday hold. Moreover, I don't think people get the way that sports impact an ordinary person's weekend. Because I watched the Spurs/Clippers game last night, I have a lot of work to do today. And whatever free time I have will not be spent watching another 3-hour event. The same could be true for many people who watched the game, the fight, or both yesterday. Also, it's extremely important to remember that those who watched the fight paid $100 to watch it (I'm sure many split the bill, but it still probably came out to like $20-$30 to watch it). When you spend that type of money on entertainment, you don't want to spend $10-$15 on another piece of entertainment, especially if you can catch that entertainment next weekend or when it eventually comes out on DVD/Netflix.

Overall, I'd say that sports definitely had a massive impact this weekend, and anyone questioning it needs to reconsider his/her stance.

sure did and too many folks said i missed avengers 2 for a crappy superfight. im glas i saw it at a friends house. what a coward mayweather is. ugh!

hey dark jedi my master and friend for so many yrs . how are yu man. sws got a gd chance to break dec rules. folks may turn to this since avengers 2 was not the tourde force like whedob pulled off with the first

IF it somehow does $85m, then the rest of the weekend would be:

$85m

$57m

$46m

$188m

But that's only if the $85m actually happens.

Am I amazing or am I amazing?
