How restrictive were your parents with regards to watching movies when growing up?

I watched child's play as a kid so yeah I could pretty much watch anything.

My mom wouldn’t let me watch R Rated movies (like the Matrix and The Terminator), when I was young.The first R Rated movie I ever saw was Hero (and that was in theaters), when I was 11.

 

The Jet Li one? That was actually PG-13.

No restrictions whatsoever. I had seen all the Fridays (except part 1), all Halloweens, all Elm Streets etc. before I turned 12-13.

Oh! My bad (now that you mention it, I remember my mom bringing up the fact that it was the only movie that wasn't rated R in the theater).

I remember I was eight years old and my dad bought Air Force One and we all watched it like it was family movie night

My parents were reasonable, especially with musicals. I saw Sweeney Todd when I was 12, and Chicago when I was 7.

I was probably around 10-11 when I saw my first R rated film, Beverly Hills Cop

My parents were very strict.  I was well into my teen years before I could watch PG13 movies.  I was born in 1979 and was 14 when Jurassic Park came out.  I really wanted to see it but my parents wouldn't let me.  They deemed it too scary.  There are many examples like that.  

 

I know they were being protective but to this day I think I harbor resentments.

I was never a fan of very violent films and horror films.

 

So I watched mostly PG Pg13 films.

 

Lol parents are oblivious to modern pop culture really...

I remember they bought me Grand Theft Auto 3 when I was 12-13.

No restrictions. I watched Predator, Alien, Terminator with my dad and Fly, Friday 13, Halloween... with my cousin when I was seven years old !

My parents restricted me for most of my childhood (though whenever I was dropped off at my Aunt's house when she baby sitted me, I could get away with watching anything there. Watched Halloween, Chucky, Jason, you name it.)

 

By 8th grade my parents kind of just let me watch whatever movie I wanted.

I was way too much of a wuss for horror up until I was a teenager. To this day, it's still by far the genre I'm least versed in (although I did very thoroughly enjoy The Conjuring this summer).

Used to watch horror films at like midnight with my dad as young as 7. 

 

I had always been exposed to films that weren't necessarily recommended for my age group.
