so 500m is locked right? Also with huge overseas numbers, beating FF7 worldwide now seems like a certainty.

Jurassic world need to earn $1 billion overseas to beat FF7 and after seeing JW numbers in China, $1 billion overseas is not going to happen.

This year has been ridiculous from AS to FF and now this avengers might be third place oreven fourth dom and WW. THis movie though I din't think it was great is doing unbelievable numbers and full credit to excel who called this. I am shocked by this and this truly shows the power of nostalgia in movies. I don't know how good the legs will be but this is the breakout hit of the year and will win the year domestic

I don't see how that's different for reserved or unreserved seating.

While its typically normal to not set right next to someone with non-reserved seats I've noticed people are pretty good at feeling in seats if the movie is crowded.

okay so the average of that is 72.5 and the real number came in at 83. at that point he was off by 10.5. if it had gone down 10.5 instead of up 10.5 then it would have ended with 62m friday from which an ow of 140 is totally possible

I get what you're saying but given the pattern we were seeing, it was really, really unlikely. When a movie's first number is 65 (by the trades), gets revised by Rth to 67-71, gets revised *again* to 71-74, etc then there's a very clear trend. Part of this is because Rth is actually a pretty conservative guy, he doesn't throw out wild numbers in the hopes that the movie might reach that total. There are rare cases where something like presales throw projections out of wack (like AOU), but that was a moot point with JW because its presales weren't anywhere near AOU. You can't just throw around "oh, it had just as good a chance of going down as up".... well, you can, I guess, but most everyone is gonna dismiss your comment outright.

AOU is over $900 million internationally and JW is opening bigger than AOU in many markets and will at least come close to its China total.

I'm talking about Saturday vs. Saturday. 75 vs. 69. He was saying it might come up short of TA1's Sunday (due to NBA) but I think the $6m cushion on Saturday will help, plus a lot of spillover from today.

Gotcha. I agree.

Just got back from my second viewing. My mom actually got out of bed and left the house this time. Why? Because she wanted to see Slayassic World. My mom loved it. Even my dad. I am slain. I knew when the loved it would SCALP like it should. The last times this has happened were Catching Fire, Deathly Hallows Part 2, The Dark Knight, and more scalpage.
