lab276
You know it occurred to me with those Spielberg/Lucas posters just how few directors have had the all time top DOM champs, in the last forty years, only three guys. But incredibly, five different films.
JohnnyGossamer
Good points. Let's get it over with tonight, Warriors. I actually think the game tonight will mute Tuesday increases and result in larger than expected drop for Jurassic as well. But, fuck that, rooting for a Game 7. The impact on Friday if there's a Game 7 will only inflate numbers on Saturday and Sunday. Overall, it will not impact the weekend grosses of any release. newknicksfan
If it was doing 120+ million how would it be at 25 million? Did people really see sub 120 million? I know a lot of people were predicting it to do around 90 million a while back. Jay Hollywood said I don't think so.

e1828
So what's the next milestones? Fastest to 250m, 300m, 400m? Yup, fastest to $250m - 5 days, old record Avengers at 6 days Fastest to $300m - est 8 days, old record Avengers at 9 days Fastest to $350m - est 9 days, old record Avengers at 10 days Fastest to $400m - est 12 days, old record Avengers at 14 days Depending on how this weekend holds up for JW, I think it will be the fastest to $450m as well, around 16 days (maybe 15). Avengers has the record to $450m (17 days), $500m (23 days), $550m (31 days) Avatar has the record for $600m at 47 days, and the records for $650m and $700m as no other movie has reached those in their unadjusted first-runs.

Moviedweeb
My last sentence was not hyperbolic. You and I know that CGI dinosaurs aren't really eating people, but to a 5 year old that's no different than watching a lion eat someone in the arena. There is just a little bit of a difference... redfirebird2008
So that is at least 2 more records added to the list: 4-day opening and non-holiday Monday. RIP TDK. It was a great 7 year run as the "regular" Monday champ.
grim22
If Lebron forces a Game 7, which is slated to take place Friday evening, it'll impact everything. Likely 35M+ viewers for that. So... A lot depends on what happens in Game 6 tonight in Cleveland. Don't think there will be a Game 7. Both the NHL and NBA playoffs followed the same pattern: Favorites won game 1, Underdogs somehow came back to win the next 2 games and take an improbably 2-1 lead in the series, favorites cam back and won the next 3 games to wrap up the series.

Bonenash
s this number out of this world in the US or just a "normal" drop from this mega opening? Does it means tuesday over 20m too? or below?
PDC1987
Moe sellout reports today of course, but I do wonder how much effect the game will have tonight since it IS a potential clincher.

BadAtGender
s this number out of this world in the US or just a "normal" drop from this mega opening? Does it means tuesday over 20m too? or below? 25m is good for a Monday any time of year, off any sort of opening. I'd expect Tuesday to be in the 22-23m range, about a 10% drop. However it's possible Monday was inflated due to sellouts over the weekend and people needing to wait to get into a showing. (TA1 probably didn't have that effect so much due to school being in session in May, so it had the bleed-over happen on the 2nd Weekend instead.) If that's the case, it might fall slightly harder on Tuesday.
