I agree that "if Minions had not opened, then IO would have made xyz" is not a legit argument.

Movies will always face competition. Who knows, if not for Minions maybe there would have been 2 65m openers scheduled this week or over 2 weeks, or some other competition. IO is pulling in adults too, and maybe Ted 2, MM and TG would not have under-performed. If Minions would have not opened means the supply is not matching the demand and studios are idiots.

- things always even out in the long run.

- most(99%) movies including TS3, etc. over the long run have faced a similar amount of competition as IO. Some movies face a lot in one week, for others it's more spread out.

Only second time in history to have three 100 M openers during summer. The first time was in 2007. What makes the feat this summer more amazing is that all three openings are from a single studio. Absorb that.

F7 didn't opened in the Summer bruh. Avengers is from Disney, not Universal :lol:

Minions already has nearly 400m ww. And it's budget was 75m + PA. The merchandising itself will take care of budgets I think, like with the Car franchise. Everything else is gravy.
