Major differences are that people in the industry liked RDJ - directors, crews and actors he worked with, the person he hurt was mostly himself, he PAID the way few if any in Hollywood actually pay and he's immensely talented and charismatic

It's the comparison Clooney usually gets but I think he's closer to Clark Gable and even channels him in a bit in Oh Brother, Where Art Thou.  He's not close to  Grant or Gables level though.

Going off-topic, I'm surprised no one has ever thought of pairing Cruise and Hanks in a film, I guess both cost too much individually to get a film for both to star in

Shia has made himself into a major thing with all of his insane behavior. People eat his shit up, and he's a great actor, so yeah I'm sure in the right role he could get a comeback

Great film, but it's not exactly one of deep psychological depth. You feel like Stewart is baring everything in Vertigo. He went to places on-screen that he hadn't before.
