one man > disney and another mega corp

Every blockbuster movie is backed by a big corp. It's not like Jim independently distributed this. Don't act like Fox was a huge part of Avatar's success just like Disney was of Endgame's. If I want to use your logic, then I'd just suggest this is two brothers (the Russos) vs James Cameron. I mean, way to totally invent a narrative. It doesn't surprise me though, because schlock like that is what you Cameron loonies get off on and sleep to.

I don't.

If Fox didn't produce another would have. Literally just handed him a lump sum of money, good job really talented.

I know we're a week(2 at most) away from Avatar's record is gone, but I don't think its too early to put on some blue face paint and celebrate

The fact he didn't even realise this. Oof. These self-defeating argument don't go away do they?

Yes of course

I mean I am sure Jim has that 1B budget for his Avatar sequels and doesn't need mega Corp to finance his movies right😉

He just needs funding.

Jim is the dream investment, just give him some money and stay the fuck away from him and he'll bring you back 20x the money.

Lol! Jim is a one man wrecking ball, he just needs the money!!

Again, what an awful argument. You can go back to looking at James Cameron porn now. I won't bother you anymore. :)

Yes absolutely, Jim deliver in every aspect no doubt in that

My point is that JC like many directors is part of mega corp ,disney literally spending 1B for Avatar movies and will likely spend another 1B for their distribution and marketing.

In other words he is part of disney wether you like it or not, even if the IP is his.

Exactly. This whole spin-job of "it's a huge corporation vs. one man" is ridiculous (and I'm starting to wonder if these takes are parodies, much like shayhiri's shtick).

Not to mention the fact that, studios aside, Avatar is not one man's project. It's his vision but that narrative is insulting to all the people who worked hard on it. This comes down to someone who really can't deal with the fact that another movie is about to pass Avatar and is starting to spin a narrative to make himself feel better.

with all six stones I can simply snap fingers and Avatar's WW record would cease to exist, I call that... AWESOME!

So has it finally happened? Wikipedia and BOM haven't updated yet. 22 years was a great run. I'll be DisneyScholar tomorrow!

I'm not sure we are in disagreement here. Yes Disney are a part of the production.

What I'm saying is they're contribution to Avatars success is irrelevant. Avatar 2 would make gangbusters if paramount, warnerbros, HSBC, Apple or a random billionaire funded it.

Yes, and the same applies to the Russos and Avengers. The question remains: why are you making this out to be a corporation vs one man. That's what people don't get.

Jim won't even recognise Avengers:FG as a director driven film so why should I?

I know, I mean it's not like it's called James Cameron's Avatar or anything. :Gaga:

It's ironic you bring that up. That is a perfect of example of studio/corporation work. James Cameron is a massive name and Fox knew it. He's a genius filmmaker but he doesn't single handedly pull in billions of box office dollars. It's his product combined with CORPORATIONS (marketing, distribution etc.).

Again, nobody is arguing that Jim isn't an amazing filmmaker himself. It's just this weird narrative that Endgame vs Avatar is basically a corporation vs one man that people have a problem with. It's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

Well sorry to tell you, but most people don't give a shit what Jim thinks.

Seeing the MCU fans turn on each other in the daily threads is interesting. People calling out Charlie's own bias and then being called Avatar fans in turn. I feel like this entire discussion is some sort of Orwellian social experiment that we weren't told about. :hahaha:

Also to anyone reading, I'll keep up my deal and pay the bonus now that A has officially fallen! I'm looking forward to seeing what Jim gets the marketing interns to whip up, although I'd prefer him to draw something himself.
