I'm surprised they didn't go the

Soylent Green

way. Now that would have been really gross to show.

 

If they did though

Curtis' revelation at the end would have lost their impact. Also logistically speaking - not nearly enough people.  In

Soylent Green the world was grossly overpopulated to the point they didn't have enough food except well...  It was more than gross enough knowing that it was just another step in dehumanizing them since if food were more fairly rationed they wouldn't have one section alone eating only that every day for 17 years.

In these end of the world, end of humanity survival movies things tend to get a little desperate. I'm speaking of the measures in which people resort to stay alive and just an all out deterioration of the human condition.

Yeah.  I was hoping I could explain it well enough. But some people have a higher tolerance of that sort of thing. I can't handle it.
