Well...true. But that ended up being the lowest grossing Hobbit-film though.

So i still doubt about MJ2 finishing lower than Hobbit 3.

Domestically, MJ2 has it unless it collapses. But THG franchise has never been able to compete WW.

I doubt it. Deadline basically said yesterday morning that Lionsgate was under-reporting on purpose. My guess is the Saturday number was intentionally lowballed in the official estimate because they did not want to need fudge for $100m total if Sunday didn't perform very well. So under-report Saturday by a million or two and then project a normal Sunday drop from there. Worked well. I can think of other studios that were not so smart in their approach.

Is that the studio that employs people who email racial comments to their colleagues?

Those plans to stretch the final film of a trilogy to 2 parts?

Not happening anytime soon

any business lost by Star Wars will be made up in the following week during Christmas

if it follows CF it will make 273m

if it follows MJ1 it will make about 283m

^yep

Even with 50-70% drops all around over Dec 18-20, GD, Creed, Heart of the Sea and MJ2 should all rebound from the previous weekend. And Alvin 4/Sisters could have a 100-150% increase from their OWs if they only open to $5-6 million each.

THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY - PART 2 opened with $102.67M this weekend.

Lionsgate chipped in the last few million from its petty cash drawer.
