As much as it pains me to admit it, Jurassic World's numbers are still more mind blowing to me. Most people were expecting a domestic total of what it did in its opening week, and we all knew SW7 was going to be ginormous. I've also never seen a blockbuster with such polarizing opinions before, so its success with general audiences is all the more impressive.

American Sniper is biggest surprise but JW was shocking too. It doubled some of the OW tracking data and then had even better legs than Avengers.

Not entirely accurate, as Bollywood domestic business is rarely included.  Dilwale did 13-15M in India and Bajirao Mastaani did 9-11M (haven't seen the Sunday estimates yet).  Add in 1.9/1.8M from here and a few million from other markets and they were probably around 20M/15M WW.

Both are Jesus in their own impressive way. Jurassic World was well received. It had good reviews and most people here liked it/loved it. There were a few that didn't BUT there are also a few that don't like Star Wars here ;)

Agreed. JW's opening weekend is the most shocking opener i have ever seen. Blind sided by a tidal wave.

I don't disagree.

JW came out of nowhere... plenty of people predicted SW to be huge before it opened.

Standing in line for Star Wars. Going on 1 hour in the cold. "40 minutes or less" says the movie guy. He lies.

Hardison@mt_hardison 12 minutes ago

Seeing the 10:20 IMAX for Star Wars. The line is out the door an hour prior. I've never seen anything like this. $238 mil prob too low.

Skyren@Skyren_22 4 minutes ago

1,5 hour before movie and there is INSANE line of people! Thank you American cinemas, that we can't reserve spot for sitting....

I remember most liking it. Honestly didn't checked the Review thread. Either way the movie was clearly loved by the GA. Who says otherwise lies.

I still think SW7 numbers are more mind-blowing but I agree with you that it can't beat the WTF degree of JW opening. At the beginning of the year it's always AOU vs SW7 for the crown of 2015 BO greatness. JW wasn't even tracking above Spectre or Minions..:P
