Really good

Is 400M+ WW possible?

A good comparison for the Revenant is Django Unchained (163m DOM/262m OS)

In the US even with so-so drops it's gonna catch Django so 160+m DOM.

In smaller OS markets Revenant has opened around the same numbers or over Django.

In the big ones its heading towards around the same totals as Django in Russia, Italy, Australia and is gonna have a 10m+ advantage in the UK.

The big difference is Germany where Revenant is doing good but still gonna end up 20-25m below Django which was a huge hit there and did 51 mil. But South Korea and Mexico will make up for that, because DU was a non-entity in those markets and Revenant outgrossed it just from OW.

I think even if it doesn't come close to Django's other big OS country (France-38mil.) the rest of the markets will make up for it.

400M probably gonna happen, over Django(425M) is also very likely and with good holds it has a shot at the 450-500m territory.

Did studios stop using the artificially high ER for Venezuela? Those numbers are unusually low.

With No. 1 openings and holds, Fox’s Oscar nominations leader grossed a better than expected $25.8M (up over $1.5M from its Sunday estimate of $24.3M) this weekend. That takes the total to $142.7M overseas. Among highlights, the UK is still No. 1 after three weeks and has the highest market cume with $23.5M. In Germany, with only a 25% drop, it picked up another $2.5M for an $18.6M cume. Russia, after four frames, is the 3rd biggest offshore market with $14.4M. In new bows, Holland ($1.3M), Belgium ($1.1M), Argentina($955K) and Sweden ($914K) were No. 1s. In other notable holds, and as Leonardo DiCaprio continues to pick up prizes for his lead turn, Mexico has cumed $9.39M and Italy after three weeks is at $12.17M, coming in 2nd this frame behind a local debut. In total, there are 63 markets open.

It jumped 6,2m from earlier estimates, 4x times more than the +1,5m of the weekend the article says. Maybe they forgot to include Thursday in the early estimates.

THE REVENANT
As it heads into Oscar night with the most nominations of any film, Alejandro G Inarritu’s western trapped another $14.1M this weekend, taking the offshore cume to $233.5M and the global haul to about $404M. After scoring the best Paris start of the year on Wednesday, and the 3rd best opening day of 2016, The Revenant landed $7.75M in France from 618 screens. Even people I know who don’t usually pore over movies are talking to me about this one here with its mix that taps right into the market. India was also a new play for Fox with $667k from 293 screens. Elsewhere,Spain had an excellent 4th weekend dropping only 28% with $1M to take its cume to $12.4M. The UK still leads offshore markets at $32M after seven frames.
