At first I thought about predicting Steve Carell for Comedy Actor, but then I remembered Christian Bale was put in lead as well. There's going to be a vote split that leads to a Damon win IMO.

Theron has a stronger chance than her and we all know she's not happening. Love Blunt but she'll have to wait a little longer for her first nomination. Good luck with The Girl on the Train next year.

Emily Blunt deserves a nomination at some point, but this won't be the year she gets it.

I want Vikander in Supporting for TDG solely because I'm going to lose 24,000 points in the Winter Game if she doesn't get in.

I want Vikander in Supporting for Ex Machina. So I hope they put her as lead for The Danish Girl.

5 minutes ago, filmlover said:

Actually, they can. It's the studios that decide the placement and then it's up to voters to decide where they will go, and sometimes they don't buy the fraud. Remember when Kate Winslet was placed in Supporting for The Reader and was nominated at all the awards in Supporting until Oscar nominations were announced and she ended up in Lead?

As for Vikander, I could see them not buying the fraud and placing her in Lead for The Danish Girl to allow her to get in Supporting for Ex Machina and giving her double nominations. We shall see.

Mara and Vikander are leads in Carol and The Danish Girl, the supporting thing is nonsense, but of course they are pushing that because neither of them is winning in the Lead category.

Christian Bale is the first name in the Big Short poster, I legit thought he was the lead of the movie.

6 minutes ago, WrathOfHan said:

I have him in fourth right now, but only because I'm predicting Sicario to be a surprise hit. Supporting Actor is nuts this year.

Sicario ain't getting shit, unfortunately. Maybe Benicio. Big maybe.

Can we open the Globes thread now while we're at it?

Cinematography is locked, and I'd say Original Screenplay and Editing are likely.

Neither although it does have plenty of comedic elements. It's certainly more of a comedy than Mad Max is a drama.

So why did it fall into that category?

Just now, filmlover said:

Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence are great in both of their movies but I'd rather see Schumer win for a great movie than Lawrence win for an otherwise mediocre movie.
