If they can't push it over 200M, it will end up being the first movie in history to end its run with a gross between 199-200M. Every other movie which has got this close has been pushed over the mark.

Oh, you best believe they're pushing Spectre over $200M one way or another.

They'll get it there, no matter what it takes

Well, not all comedy sequels comes with poor box office results.

The ones that were huge are:

Hangover 2 = $586M WW

Meet The Fockers = $516M WW

22 Jump Street = $331M WW

Pitch Perfect 2 = $287M WW

But when you wait more than 10 years for an (unnecessary) comedy sequel, it usually equals a BO bomb lol.

Like this atrocity :D

After the huge success of the original ($351 million ww unadjusted)

Actually this would give Sony a good chance to do what MGM did with Bond numbers back in the '90s, have it finish its run with $200,007,007 or something.

Now I'm going to be mad if they do anything else

I was talking about BIG comdey sequels, not the smaller ones, lol. :P

I think those 4 had the benefit of being released in a non-competitive time in their respective years....and had their marketing pushed sky-high. Especially Hangover 2 & Meet the Fockers.

Yeah. Especially when they expanded it to 340 theaters. No movie ever closes its run with 340 theaters. No one.

And Spectre will get the $200M, anyway....it may not get there this weekend.....but next weekend probably.

I agree. Having Spectre not to hit $200M before it closes.....would be outrageously stupid. And there's no way Spectre closes with 340 theaters it expanded to.

Even Superman Returns didn't close its run with over 400 theaters, when that film was nearing the $200M-mark.

All this talk comparing shit comedies, thank goodness Midnight Run is on to remind me that great comedies do exist.
