Cheap Tuesday's seem to really have come into their own in the past year or so as more theater chains have added it, a number of Regal theaters doing it in the US as well. I think awareness is growing every year. I remember Minion's Tuesday bumps. It pretty much behaved like the 4th day of the weekend. It's first 5 Tuesdays were bigger than the respective Fridays http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=minions.htm

a2k
Disney's ZOOTP pushed BVS to #3 yearly. This weekend Disney's CW will go over it. Next weekend it will be Disney's TJB pushing BVS to #5. Then at least two movies, Disney's Dory and Disney's Rogue One, pushing it to #7. Disney = Doomsday.

The last non-Marvel superhero movie to be the summer opener was MI3 in 2006. That was 10 years ago. And for good reason Opening Weekend: $47,743,273 I think this is a small weekend even for 2006

So has the MI franchise, though to a lesser extent of course. MI3 was the lowest grossing in the series by almost 50 million domestically and was the only one not to break 400 million worldwide. mrqe93
Tom Cruise had poor image at the time... Maybe that was the reason why MI3 underperformed.
