BOT Top 100 Movie Songs of All Time! I Need lists ASAP now People! You have until saturday, I will begin the countdown Sunday or Monday evening (Korea time)

Recommended Posts

I have done a list in a long time and this one hasn't been touched in any form for many a year so here we go :D

List is simple. What are the best movie songs of all time? Now as there are many ways to categorise a movie song I will clarify:

1. Any song that was sung by a character in a movie

2. Any song that plays as part of the soundtrack during the runtime of a movie

3. Any song written specifically for a movie

4. Multiple instances of the same song within the same franchise are not eligible, pick the best one. The same song in different franchises can be voted for in two different positions.

5. A Movie song MUST HAVE LYRICS AND SINGING - No scores or instrumentals, just songs.

6. Any rule I haven't thought of yet

Please choose songs based on their impact and relevance to the movie and its scene. Don't just pick a song you like :)

Your list can be anything from 15 to 100 songs. The scoring system will be presented in the Spoilers below (as it is needlessly complicated :D ).

Spoiler

1st 25 pts

2nd 22pts

3rd 20pts

4-5th 18pts

6-7th 16pts

8-10th 14pts

Multiple Vote Bonuses: (Total)

4 votes - 12pts

6 votes - 18pts

8 votes - 25pts

10 votes - 30pts

12 votes - 35pts

15 votes - 40pts

If anyone wishes to put forward a non-ordered list it will be accepted and scoring will be done with all songs given an identical score equal to the average score the films would have received in an ordered list.

PM lists are preferred for both ease of compilation and suspense purposes.

DEADLINE IS LATE SATURDAY/EARLY SUNDAY

Will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

My Top 100 Scores thing from last year had some interesting developments, but ended up with a giganticaly predictable and "safe" Top 10. Plan on doing that again early next year to see how the 2-year gap changes things.

Thanks, some unique choices there I think :)

Be interesting to see how many old school musical songs make the list.

What about songs (not composed specifically for the the movie) that characters partially sing within the movie?

Anything that you think adds to a scene or movie that is a song (sung by someone or on soundtrack) I will accept as long as it is a song and not score/background music.

Examples of things that would be totally acceptable:

God Gave Rock and Roll - Bill and Ted

As Time Goes By - Casablanca

Bohemian Rhapsody - Wayne's World

Total Eclipse of the Heart - Old School

Dust in the Wind - Old School

X Gonna Give it To ya - Deadpool

Its essentially the best use of songs in a film :)

So does come and get your love used in Guardians of of the Galaxy count?

Yes it does, it's a big part of the opening credits :) (Although I think you were actually asking about Hooked on a Feeling surely? ;) )

Does elvish lyrics count?

I am assuming that is choral and thus would be considered orchestral as opposed to singing. Just like that Omen theme shouldn't count for similar reasons.

If there is an actual song sneaked in somewhere then a foreign language or invented language song is eligible. (But not a dubbed foreign language song like say the German version of Let it Go or something).

Guardians is a walking soundtrack of awesome to be fair, could probably include like 6 of their songs (if I'd only ever watched 25 movies)
