So, we should be expecting a Disney press statement about how Civil War is a box office disaster any moment now

I can imagine the headlines --

EXCLUSIVE: Disney Executives On Suicide Watch After Disastrous Civil War Box Office Performance - Piracy Is To Blame?

Los Angeles, California, May 23, 2016 - After Civil War dropped an enormous 2% more than it should have been on BOTH its 2nd and 3rd week-ends, our sources within the Industry are expecting Disney to sell Marvel Studios any moment now for its lack of momentum.

"Box Office Experts have spoken" said Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, "The drops have been well beyond our recovery point, and are several percentage behind our most pessimistic of predictions. The movie is beyond recovery now".

Many Industry Specialists are throwing Piracy as the main cause of this unexpected performance for the movie, as a leaked copy in very good quality hit the internet a mere 5 days after the movie came out. "It ruined any chances it had, right there", said a Box Office specialist who wishes to remain anonymous. "No one will go see it now."

Marvel Studios has yet to comment on the effect of piracy on the movie's box office returns.

That's possible that the numbers improve for her after primaries as they have for him with the republican primaries. But his was part of continuous momentum building for 9 months. She has a lot of bad skeletons that are going to keep coming out and will hurt her. His are playschool compared to hers.

Ive been told to stop posting a few times even though I provide more data supporting my claim as I have done from the beginning. That its a joke and fatigue is all it is. Yet no one provides evidence to support this claim and the denial and jokes of piracy goes on and on and on. ha ha ha. Give me proof. Here is some below that  regarding fatigued franchises and it doesn't back your claim

Here are fatigued franchises. most have middling or bad reviews and WoM and most dropped off considerably from their predecessors due to this.

How is it that the only moviewith great reviews and good WoM on this list, wind up at the bottom with those two pieces of garbage. The hype and front loading is the same for these movies. Its going to be under 400m, then Disney will fudge it giving it a paltry 2.24 OW multi at a 401m total. It should have a 2.5 OW multi or better 440m+, which most of you were saying after its 1st Monday hold. go check the thread.

MJ2 2.75

PotC OST 2.67

DoFP 2.57

TF4 2.45

AoU 2.40

Cap3 2.24

ASM2 2.21

BvS 1.99

Before you say HP8 at 2.25, it had 50m in previews and a 90m OD. Not comparable.  CA3 previews were in line with AoU

Context is everything. This is Marvel's 13th film, the 3rd as an ensemble. The novelty has worn off and not only are they going to have a tougher time getting great critical reception as the MCU keeps going it's also going to be tougher bringing in a new audience this late in the game when you now have to have knowledge of past movies to know what the hell is going on.  1+ billion is fantastic at this stage.

875 million for the other movie is no "flop" but it wasn't expected to be that low either. That was three of their flagship characters on screen together for the very first time.  You don't make that kind of movie and expect a modest increase over MOS. They wanted Avengers money or at the very least Iron Man 3 money. 875 is disappointing considering everything the other movie had going for it.

Besides i have seen noone talking about flop to describe BvS BO, more like underperformance.

What i have seen is countless of people and not just Marvel fans criticizing its horrendeous legs despite having less competition and for having one of the worst multiplier.

At the end of the day, it doesn't even matter what you or I or anyone else think about its BO.    Cause the very much fact that WB is currently undergoing some internal shift of power after it, adding suddenly some people to supervise this whole DCE and get more control over Snyder is enough to say that this movie underperformed (to say the least) according WB's own perception and expecations of what should have generated the very first encounter of the three icons in what was set to be an event movie à la Avengers.

We can debate as much as we like about its performance and what word describes it the most.   It will still be irrelevant if those who have financed it and produced it act like its BO is under what they expected to, to the point that they are going into some internal changings because of it.

Expecting 65M OW for Apocalypse and around 80M for the 4 day weekend. Bad number. Not sure where FOX will take the franchise next after these results.

The poorly reviewed, bad WoM, fatigued PoS sequel to a 10 year reboot, ASM2 that was so bad they cancelled #3, held - 52.7% against Neighbors 25m second weekend and Godzillas OW of 93m while losing most of it premium screens in its 3rd weekend.

CA3 -54.4% :sadben:

You guys crack me up with your denial.

Next week spidey held -53.4 for 3 day memorial against x-men 90m, and Godzillas 30m, about what alice and x-men will do this weekend combined.

Not piracy?

O/U 53.4 % $10 donation to your $10. And I'll throw in a $20 fandango card. I of course say over 53.4% drop. First two posters...

AoU and Im3 held 44 and 46% on MDW

AoU had very little competition. IM3

IM3 had FF6 OW and STrek 2nd weekend.

So piracy was just invented this year?  Holy shit!!!!

And I'll take your bet.  You're saying that for the three day Memorial weekend, CW is going to drop more than 53.4%?  You can keep your Fandango card, whatever that is.  Let's just keep it at a $10 donation, unless you are feeling good about making it $20.00 since no one else is taking your bet.

I'm thinking 70-80m would be a good OW for this.  Wouldn't it?

For a film that has a budget of $235M and its predecessor opened above that, I wouldn't call it a good OW. Is it terrible or bad? No but I wouldn't clap or anything for an opening weekend in the $70-80M range...and that's if it opens that high.

Where did you get the 235 million dollar figure from?

There's an article in the X-Men thread that I read it on. I want to say the source was the Wall Street Journal...but if you look it up its actually $234M to be exact.

You know what I'm talking about. Was their an HDRIP of AOU or IM3 in its 4th day of release? No there wasn't. Cams don't have the same impact.

And you don't know what a Fandango (gift) card is? OK whatever. You don't need it, you pirate anyway. I remember you saying that you were watching TREV at home in January. You owe Leo  $10.

Let's make it $30 since you don't want the card.

CA3 greater than 53.4% drop FSS this weekend.

That's Friday Saturday Sunday.

i watch lots of pirated movies at home. They're available for $3 around the corner. So yes I definitely buy them. But I also see about 110 movies a year at the theater. So excuse me if I actually get some movies on DVD that are not available at the theater here. And what is TREV?

The piracy comedy continues

What I see here is a movie that wasn't all that well received and that is impossible for anyone who hasn't seen all the other 12 movies to understand and it is suffering because of it.
