MEH-MORIAL DAY WEEKEND BOX OFFICE | Abandon all hope, the box office is dead. 3 day weekend #s X-Men 65M, Alice 28.1M, Angry Birds 18.7M, Civil War 15.1M, Neighbors 9.1M. Bad openings, horrible holdovers.

I am okay with the franchise ending here, but Fox has to periodically make these movies because of the rights. Deadpool and X-Men are on separate film right deals, so a Deadpool movie probably doesn't cover it. I wonder if Wolverine or X-Force will though.

I would be okay with a reboot, though I would feel sorry for the young cast and I love McAvoy and Fassbender. Changes clearly have to be made. And I don't want the movies to keep treading the same territory all over again.

Let's not forget DoFP was already 10 years after First Class lol. JLAW tho it is normal it doesn't age, she is Mystique remember? She can transform into anyone lol.

That means Rose Byrne, Xavier, and Magneto should all be in their 50s in this movie lol

Well, I'm sure Hollywood is ready to tell Rose Byrne that her Last Fuckable Day has arrived now that she just had a baby. ;)

Wolverine is probably within the X-Men rights. He has to be.

Tye Sheridan might have been able to grow into a solid Cyclops and I would have loved Fassbender do the story where Magneto is in charge of the school. They will both be okay, though. So, it seems like the movie might make 146 to 148M domestic. Not even break 150M, damn.

So lets talk about those Fox release date changes (there's too many for a specific thread): http://deadline.com/2016/05/warner-bros-maze-runner-the-death-cure-dylan-obrien-1201764118/ (Gotta love how Deadline can't get the studio correct in the URL  )

Morgan: Sep 2, 2016

Keeping Up with the Jonses: Oct 21, 2016

Rules Don't Apply: Nov 11, 2016

A Cure For Wellness: Feb 17, 2017

Red Sparrow: Nov 10, 2017

Murder on the Orient Express: Nov 22, 2017

Maze Runner: Jan 12, 2018

Predator: Feb 9, 2018

Untitled Marvel: Mar 2, 2018

Untitled Marvel: Jun 29, 2018

Alita: July 20, 2018

Maze Runner is dead. February 2017 is getting even more crowded, stuff needs to move. Interesting that they're still keeping the third Marvel movie close to Ant-Man, unless it's Deadpool (which it probably won't be since filming begins this fall) they should move away now that they're closer to JW2.

If Deadpool 2 is March 2, 2018 then what is the  Untitled Fox/Marvel film on October 6, 2017? Gambit?  New Mutants?

Also I doubt Fox is going to keep that June 29, 2018 date, that's one week after the  Jurassic World Sequel.

Also, The Flash is going to die after the one-two punch of Black Panther and Deadpool 2 (assuming it's the March 2 date).

But WB will likely move it, if they're smart.

October 2017 is either Deadpool or New Mutants. I'm leaning towards the former since it starts production this fall and New Mutants is probably going to get reworked with the way Apocalypse is performing. Doug Liman is busy with another movie right now so Gambit is probably the last one.

I think Love & Friendship could chug along throughout the summer. Perfect adult alternative to all of these superhero movies.

It should pick up a couple more hundred theaters next weekend. The Lobster is doing very well also.

I'm leading the Derby and I'm going to have a near perfect score in CSG :ohmygod: Great expansion for Love and Friendship, everything else is performing exactly like I expected (well, maybe not Alice)

Deadpool would completely OWN the month of October. I'd like to see that happen.
