Keep your budgets reasonable and cool, and you won't need to ask for help, like you did to Marvel.

I don't think that's entirely the case for Spider-Man. That series has steadily decreased in domestic with each release after the first, which is really odd. It's clearly still a money-making franchise and a character with potential, but they had to do something to course-correct the trend.

Everyone that's not Disney needs to learns this. This is why I think Paramount is gonna hit the jackpot with 50M-budgeted Arrival.

They're gonna hit the jackpot because of Villeneuve*. The man specialises in keeping the budget low. He made Sicario for $12M.  It's not because they kept the budget down.

Well, yeah, but keeping it down will pay off big time. This (and Silence) is gonna save their year.

I'm actually curious to watch this Max Steel movie. I'm not expecting anything other than a bad movie. Maybe I'll be surprised.

I know some people that have watched it, and they all said this movie isn't actually bad at all. I guess this is obviously gonna be buried during its release, and it'll sell better on dvd and blu-ray. Is this even getting released worldwide?

By the way, I see people saying the budget is only 5-10 million. Is that true?

Brad Jones said it made him want to apologize to Fan4stic, lol.

They really need it. Out of all studios, they have the most horrible year. Outside of Ghostbusters, Sony actually did really well with all of their movies. Paramount had expensive bomb after expensive bomb after expensive bomb. This might be the worst year in studio's history.

The movie is Sony OS.

You're right. Paramount paid 20M for NA and China. It's still a very nice deal.

Considering the budget, it seems like a better deal for Paramount than for Sony tbh.

Agreed. And it has a better chance of breaking out in NA. OS is way more franchise/action crazy and will probably get lost among the wizards, the jedis and the animations. Although, I think Sony knows this and a lot of territories won't get it until January (I fear my country will be one of those: no release date and they tend to save several holiday movies for January every year due to it being a vacation period over here, especially award stuff).

They usually do that here too with a lot of stuff but we are getting Arrival on November 10 :D

Sony are distributing Arrival in most places apart a handful of countries like the UK and Australia where it's being handled by eOne and Village. I suspect the budget for the film has already been recouped from the presales and Sony, Paramount and the local distributors will be handling just P&A and distribution so really everyone will make money.

Universal have had a mixed year but Pets and Bridget Jones have really done great for them and Central Intelligence did well for them OS, Sing should be a hit for them as well.

That's La La Land day for us. The other movie besides Arrival I can't wait for.

Silence also opens here on that day which is nice since I have to wait until January 26 to see La La Land :sadben:

I knew I wouldn't get Silence until after nominations over here. Probably February if it ends up behaving like The Revenant in NA.
